People are going to start firing back in higher numbers. If that is what you want, so be it.

If my wife was having a breakdown and had a bb-gun I'd be wrestling it away from her before she got shot and not calling the police saying she's got a weapon.

This one may have been ASSISTED suicide.
That's exactly what I thought. Was he hoping for a big payday? Did the two talk about it first? Of course, there is the possibility he thought it was more than a BB gun as well.

The article states the husband told 911 that his wife had a weapon, not that she had a BB gun.

Exactly, seems pretty obvious to anyone with a brain, doesn't it? A crazy SOB will kill you just as quickly as a normal person. As far as the husband telling cops it's a BB gun, it wouldn't have made ANY difference. The recent case where the wife is LYING to cops and risking their lives by saying "he don't have no gun" while telling the husband "don't you do it"....spouses LIE. Cops have to treat every gun as a real lethal threat. The "shoot her in the leg" people have been watching too much bad TV.

We have probably 20 cases where the situation is de-escalated without anyone getting killed to ever case like this one.

Whatever the officers are doing in the other situations need to be taught. We have a case here in WV where the person had a type of Parkinson's and could not hold still but the three officers insisted on beating the **** out of him because he would not hold still.

An interesting twist to the story: the woman's father (a wanted felon) was stopped by police 10 years ago and was shot and killed when he exited the vehicle with a toy gun.

10 years later, Austin woman killed by police repeats father

If the husband knew it was a bb gun, he should not have called 911 at all.
