It's sad indeed, but they are making their voices heard, and the world is watching. The paramilitary forces arrayed against them have come from Indiana, Ohio, Minnesota and South Dakota, why in the world are they importing these paramilitary forces?

Training for interstate conflict when it arises, and they are likely using this protest as a blueprint on how to deal with a restless population when more of us have had enough of being trampled on by corporations.

Police spray North Dakota Access Pipeline protesters with water cannon - Business InsiderAfter months of protest against the proposed North Dakota Access Pipeline, the clash between police and activists heated up Sunday night as temperatures cooled to dangerous levels.
Protesters, many of whom are from the Standing Rock Indian Reservation, have been demonstrating against the oil pipeline that would pass through North Dakota's Lake Oahe, a sacred burial site and major source of drinking water for the Standing Rock Sioux.

Really??
Let the protesters see the value of being "warmed."

Ha.

I'll have to tell the local officers that I know that have gone to help that apparently they're paramilitary forces.

You know what I'm tired of? Towns in my state being evacuated and people being killed because this oil is transported by more deadly ways than pipeline.

But go ahead and type out your response on your phone, tables or computer that uses petroleum products that my state has sacrificed lives for to provide for you. It's abundantly clear that our lives truly do not matter to people like you.

I'm afraid I don't understand your argument. I never said you did any of those things. What I did say was that immigrants today are in no way doing worse to us than what was done to the Native Americans.

oh but my ancestors immigrated here so hence I am an immigrant??
maybe if you trace my ancestory back far enough, you might find cave men or Neanderthals or some sub human species...perhaps bacteria that was on this continent...hence you don't know for sure I am an immigrant...how far back do you liberal "were all immigrants" touters want to take it

lets go back far enough, when all the land on the earth was one super continent, before tutonic shifts broke it up into the continents we have today...hence NONE of us are immigrants...sigh
What is a tutonic shift?

Destruction of Sacred Burial Grounds Prompts Federal Judge to Protect Some Tribal Sites from Dakota Access Pipeline | DeSmogBlog

I use the word "sacred" in quotations not because it is an Indian site, but because I don't believe very many things are sacred, especially a patch of land that only recently was discovered to be "sacred".
Put an ancient artifact on it and I am impressed; wave your hand around and I am not.

It's the 21st century. Cemeteries (if they exist) get bulldozed all the time.
I guess that means it's okay for someone to dig up the one where your family is buried, right?

There was nothing there. Archaeologists have been following the pipeline construction and no burial grounds have been uncovered.

What you're saying is that you're upset over something that doesn't actually exist.

The PROTESTERS are the only ones that have initiated the use force here. IF they go back to their reservation, or private property that one of them own, and have a protest, that would be just fine. No one would complain at all, and they could protest peacefully, as long as they wanted. What is going on isn't a protest, it's a violent act-aka domestic terrorism.

I think Indian Casinos are harmful. They hurt those with gambling addictions. Encourage alcoholism. They allow smoking which is not allowed in non-tribal businesses. Because I think they are bayd, should I trespass on indian property and block access to them? Burn the casinos? Attack the workers? If not-why? That is exactly what is being done here.
Since when is a public right of way private property? Since when does the Corps of Engineers have the right to sell treaty lands to oil companies? It was DAPL that set fire to the vehicles on the bridge to block access, not the natives. The workers may be honest, but their bosses are crooks, as corrupt as they come. If the workers don't like it, they need to find an honest employer.
