not to turn this political except this is on the POC forum, but it's this newfound disrespect of science where regular people seem to think their feelings or that random posting they read on the web is more real/truthful than science and medicine, blogs trump peer reviewed researched medical/scientific fact....
I know several people like this in the world and it's sad and scary...

Not at all. Anti-Vaxxers have taken the time to study the situation and make an informed decision. I realize many aren't able to do that, thus their herd mentality to just listen to mass media and let others decide, those motivated by money, big pharma and corrupt politicians.

It was only when it somehow became a political thing that people started lining up along partisan lines on this issue, and many lefties were forced to do a 180 on the issue in order to keep getting invited to all the coolest cocktail parties.

For those in favor of forced vaccinations, are you also in favor of other forced medical procedures like forced sterilizations? Forced abortions? Forced births?
Where do we draw the line?
I know of a girl here in the US who lost her hearing at 18 months due to measles. How does a parent explain to their child that they lost their hearing because they refused to vaccinate them against a preventable disease?
I know of a boy in the US who contracted autism after getting vaccinated. How does a parent explain to their child that they contracted a preventable disease due to their parents insisting on vaccinating them?

There, expanded the bold for you. Didn't know I was going to have to walk you through your own post. I've never seen anyone say/write the bolded text unless they were bashing conservatives for not believing in global warming or some other political science they were trying to use to justify some new leftist law they were trying to jam down out throats. That's all the time I'll spend on this with you though. If I had to point the obvious out to you, you're apparently playing games.

See it all the time. Same sort of thinking back in the day when people did not wear their seat belts because they believed they would be "thrown clear". This sort of willful ignorance has been going on for a long time, it is uniquely American. Has a lot to do with math skills more than anything else. People don't understand statistics and how it applies to their daily life.

I retired 1 1/2 years ago, but vaccines have been a political issue since Edward Jenner invented the smallpox vaccine. I've been in the trenches. I could tell you many stories. Plenty of "lefties" are anti-vax, right out in public here in Colorado. They get in bed with the RWs who are AV as well, to weaken the school requirements.

or you're interpreting my post through a political lens due to your own preconceptions; bonus points for the condescending attitude too ...some of us can think thoughts that don't involve left or right all day long...you should try it sometime, it's fun...turn off the no spin zone and go outside and breath some fresh air and talk to people...
