No it isn't. It's about people vs the Corporatists. If it was about anything else, mandatory e-verify with strong enforcement would all be a part of this discussion.
Congressional Dems have as much power to end the government shutdown as Trump does.
I hope you advise your kids to "negotiate" the same way you do Trump. Sit down and refuse to move and wait for mom and dad to "negotiate" by giving you the candy you demand.
It's about a president overstepping his Constitutional authority and holding the country hostage in an attempt to force Congress to cede their Constitutionally given power of funding the government over to him, because he can't get his funding through the process laid out in the Constitution.

What a stupid thing to say since that is exactly what the Dems do every single time. They try to cause as much pain to the citizens as possible so they can point and say, "see!, those R's are evil!" Meanwhile they can just negotiate a deal, but they won't. Why not?
So why is this fight happening on of all things the “wall”?
Its a fight of globalism vs nationalism
You see if theres a wall people have to ask for asylum in mexico. If there is no wall but are other forms of border protection (drones etc) the illegals get to request asylum on usa land. This starts the clock on them being released in the usa. It is all about globalist goals of many in both parties to have a global government.
Trump is not that deep. It's all ego and emotion with him.
If you ask him the definition of either globalism or nationalism--he would not be able to tell you.
He knows as much about your ideological analogy as he does about the history of Russia and Afghanistan.

It won't work.
This post is what someone illiterate about the process would say.
Same can be said for walking out of a room. Trump holds himself out to be a master negotiator. With all his bragged about skills, surely - if he REALLY wanted to reopen government, he would have a comeback for this in order to keep the talks going.
This is HIS SHUTDOWN. He said two weeks ago he would OWN IT. Therefore, it is on him to FIX IT.
He needs to make the first move. Because he started it.
He had legislation which he said he would sign. Then he refused.
This mess is of his own making. It's up to him to fix it.
He didn't walk out until after she said no. He was teaching her a little lesson. Next time, maybe she doesn't come to a meeting if she isn't ready to compromise. She'll just be wasting her time. He IS owning it. You folks just can't wrap your heads around the fact that he won't jump when you say boo.
