Laurel Hubbard was born a man and was into weightlifting without much success. However, in her 30s she transitioned to being a woman and now at 41 is dominating women's weightlifting competitions. She just won 2 Golds and a Silver medal in her 3 events including beating out the strongest woman from the most recent commonwealth games.
An organization called "Speak up for women" is arguing that people born as men should not be allowed to compete as women, while others are saying that speak up for women is being discriminatory and hurtful.
Should Laurel Hubbard be allowed to compete in the Olympics with the women?
I wonder if there will be international rage when this dude/dudette smashes the women's world record---thus eliminating all past women's world records in this event! REAL WOMEN need no longer try to win this event in the future.
Sha'Carri Richardson ran a 10.65 100 meters at the Olympic trials. That isn't fast by male elite standards but you would STILL have to be just below elite as a male to transgender and beat her due to the fact that transgendering is going slow them down some.
People act like some random dude is going to just transgender and beat all these women and that's simply not true.
A high school kid did it in 10.13 back in 2019. The majority of male athletes could slap on a wig and say they are female and dominate women's sports. Not even a competition. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...rack_and_field

There needs to be international rage over this. All of those women who have been training for years for this, and some man is allowed to beat them silly. Its disgusting.
Women athletes who test positive for Steroids (hormones) can be disqualified from the Olympics, but guys who couldn't successfully compete against men, can be plum full of the same natural hormone and compete against women.
Yes, the transgenders as political correctness on their side. Women has been thrown aside.

I have a memory of a sports talk radio show host whose tagline, it turns out it was the Howard Cosell quote
Quote:
sports is the toy department of life
The toy department is not where this battle is. And the toy department is pretty much irrevalent. And the battle was lost 40 years ago when the western world decided that there was nothing that is "intrinsically disordered"
So society has escalated to the point where the next generation's Ms Purple Short Hair won't be able to beat "they". That woman will just be in the same position of the 99.9% of current women who can not out play Ms Purple Short Hair today. There being only one champion out of billions of people little harm
Yup. At this rate, women’s teams will be made up entirely of transgenders.
I'd still say that that's highly unlikely. Even with the (relative) promise of sports glory the number of trans people is extremely small.
Though yes the de-stigmatization of trans identity will definitely lead more people to come out in this way. But I doubt they will be able to "fill" teams. Only a tiny percentage of people are trans and of them an even tinier percentage are going to be competitive athletes.
That said, given that the number of trans athletes will inevitably grow, it's certain that going forward many, many women's records will fall and be held by trans women in the future.
I also think that in the medium and long term, the motivation for biological girls and women to devote time and energy to seeking excellence in competitive sports will diminish considerably as a result of this.
