Wut?

As far as the Dems looking for positive messaging on Newsome (in case the big guy wanders off) they kinda like (or at least say they do) his gestures on global warming.

The "DeSantis is a racist" remains my favorite (albeit thoroughly faux) Democrat talking point on DeSantis.

It's not a good thing, when your state pushes the middle class out, then it has a $32 billion budget deficit, along with an exploding homeless problem, ruining cities like SF, Sac, DTLA.

CA has 40 million people, but CA is YUGE.

The fastest growing parts of CA are the ex-urban fringes like Riverside County. People are fleeing LA for the deep suburbs.

Technically, DeSantis is a Latino of Italian origin. Has a Latin based surname. Ditto for Rubio, and Cruz, two of the top Republican Party leaders.

Makes it tough for the Libs to paint him/them as racists, using their own logic, LOL!

Florida is more dense than CA.
CA has massive areas that are totally empty like the everglades.

With that said, LA is the densest metro in the nation. More dense than Metro NYC.

I can see you probably haven't spent much time on the 405, 91, 10, or the 5 freeways. You can stand in the front of the Santa Monica pier and drive about 90 miles east and still be be surrounded by urban development.

Ain't buying the Florida is denser in population than CA without some proof.
It's funny you say that as I was born, raised, and lived a large part of my life in LA/SoCal. I know California well enough to know that LA metro =/= California.

Now, Hawk gave you the values but they're actually outdated. Based on 2020 figures:

Florida has a pp/mi^2 = 402, compared to California which has 254.

Link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...lation_density

This makes Florida almost twice as dense as California.

If you leave the LA bubble, you will realize that much of California is national parks, or agricultural areas whereas Florida has been urbanized up and down, with only some small parks and small agricultural areas breaking up the development.

I much prefer lower dense areas to higher ones, so for me this is not a positive or something to compete with Florida over.

Per the Wall Street Journal you can see the article if subscribe. There’s people leaving Fl. Let time pass and the numbers will show it.
People move around all the time, however, FL has a net population GAIN, while CA has a net population LOSS, for the first time in it's history. The first time ever! Woah!

FLORIDA:
1950 - 2,771,305
1960 - 4,951,560
1970 - 6,789,443
1980 - 9,746,324
1990 - 12,937,926
2000 - 15,982,378
2010 - 18,801,310
2020 - 21,538,187
2022 - 22,244,823 - +3.3%

CALIFORNIA:
1950 - 10,586,223
1960 - 15,717,204
1970 - 19,953,134
1980 - 23,667,902
1990 - 29,760,021
2000 - 33,871,648
2010 - 37,253,956
2020 - 39,538,223
2022 - 39,185,605 - −0.9%

From 2020 to 2022, Florida added 706,000 people, while California lost 353,000.

I would suspect that CAs population centers are probably worse the FLs generally speaking. I'll shut up now as I've derailed the thread too much.

Interesting^.

Newsom faced a recall election and got more votes than when he was first elected.

And DeSantis won his reelection in a total landslide.

Seems like both states are happy with their respective governors on paper at least.

If you take Florida to North Carolina it's about the same land mass, population and economic output.

I figured it was probably how the numbers are tallied. CA has lots and lots of undeveloped land and deserts. I heard the word density and I was like no, so cal metro has like 13 million people just in the 4 or 5 counties here, Fl can't be that crowded.

I got to get the he'll out of this place at some point, way too crowded for me
