He's not the dad. He's not the king. He's not emperor. No, he CAN'T tell them that they can't go, when the money has been budgeted and the trip has been planned. He can cajole them into saving money, and when the budget comes around he can try to persuade Congress to limit spending on such things, but he can't snap his fingers and cancel an SSA conference.

And when enacting new legislation, like TARP, Congress can make the help contingent on reasonable CEO pay, and Congress can make automaker bailouts contingent on conditions as they see fit. Obama can sign the legislation or not, and he can use his bully pulpit, but he's NOT dictating to the companies what they can and cannot do.

And he has not told anyone what kind of light bulb they have to have, or what temperature to keep the house. You're just making stuff up now.

No, "they" don't have to spend it. But that's not the same thing as insisting that Obama could have gone over their budget with a red pen and changed the chicken buffet to beans and rice instead.

they *did* dare save some of our money on this trip. This came out of the maintenance budget for the office of Soc Sec, not our soc sec funds.

oh but he is to limit how much a ceo an american citizen can earn. Tell me what president has told a citizen how much they can earn before

You act like he cant fire someone for not doing as he says lol

Really he hasnt changed the standard of light bulbs? Yes he did tell us what temp we should keep our house. He even wants in the cap and trade bill that we have to have certain windows and such to be able to sell our house the energy efficent that he wishes

yet he cant tell the head of the social security office look put this conference off till a later date.

He cant have Pelosi do something for them.

Nothing but excuses and no outrage at gov waste

He DIDNT tell them they cant go! Is English difficult? It was rhetorical. If he'd meant it as some kind of threat he would have spent time following up, cutting off their funding or whatever.

Barack Hussein Obama is very scary, isnt he?

when the annual budgets are set -- that's when the red pens come into play.

I was wrong about washington DC earlier -- Soc Sec's HQ is in Charm City, Maryland.

OMG the limit you all wont go to in order to avoid saying the entire conference was a waste.

So why couldnt the companies that had pre schdeuled their conference still had them but got a better deal on a hotel room.

waste is waste and each penny wasted adds up.

Where do you think they get the money for the budget

Barack Hussein Obama is very scary, isnt he?
In February, Obama said companies receiving taxpayer money "can’t get corporate jets, you can’t go take a trip to Las Vegas or go down to the Super Bowl on the taxpayer’s dime.”

“People are telling me that they’re not coming to Las Vegas because the president doesn’t want them to,” Mayor Oscar B. Goodman told the New York Times. Goodman at first demanded an apology from the White House,

Now wanna tell me again he didnt tell them they cant go to vegas for the conference on tax payers time.

Maybe he said you can go but only if you get a 400.00 room for 85.00. Maybe he really meant you can go iffffff

Do as I say not as I do
