There is no dark side in the moon, really. As a matter of fact it's all dark

Reports down here in South Carolina say 1,000,000 extra people will be in the state from the eclipse. Greenville, Columbia, and Charleston are all in the totality.

At least Charleston will pretty much be shut down that day. All the schools have closed already, and pretty much any outdoor structure is hosting an event.

In Columbia, the low A baseball team (the one Tim Tebow played for), is playing a 1:05 game, and taking a break during the eclipse.

This isn't specifically about the North/South Carolina areas but I was listening to a popular radio show, Coasttocoastam the other night and they had an astronomer guest on that said he thinks anywhere in the path of totality will be completely gridlocked. Not only did he say the roads would be jammed but he said the gas stations will run out of gas and the local stores will be picked through like they are before a major snowstorm or Hurricane hits. I don't know if it was just fear porn or if it's really going to be like that but if it is, God help us. I live in another state that has a wide path of totality. So I guess I'll find out.

South Carolina is probably going to get hit the worst because if you are coming from Florida or the crowded Northeast, that's the easiest state to get to driving wise.

If the "scratches head" is about the quote, it is a line from Eclipse, the last song on Dark Side of the Moon.

An interesting account of chasing solar eclipses from Bob Ryan, who was a meteorologist in DC for many years.

I like the picture in this article of the 48 states, with path of totality, and amount of partial eclipses to be seen in the states.

I know I recommended buying glasses on Amazon further upthread, but I've since come across this article:

NASA says unsafe eclipse glasses being distributed | WKRN News 2

Buyer beware!

(That is to say, you can still get them through Amazon ... just be sure that they're from one of the four NASA-approved companies)
