The $2 Lowe's ones are certified...they're from American Paper Optics.

You definitely overpaid if you paid $14 for eclipse glasses. I got mine months ago online from eclipse2017.org and paid like $15-$20 for 10 pair of ISO compliant ones!

They don't have to cost much to be right.

The ones on Amazon are usually in groups not single ones so it probably wasn't $14 for one.

OK this could be a problem:

“This is an issue. This is really an issue, but it’s not advertised. … Yeah, all the maps are wrong,” Mike Kentrianakis, who is the solar eclipse project manager for the American Astronomical Society and who routinely consults with NASA, told The Star.

For anyone that's still looking for glasses locally, I got a couple from Morehead Planetarium the other day and they had plenty left. Only $2 each.

I am planning to close the drapes and maybe take a nap. I don't trust those special glasses and it could cause major damage to your retina if you look at it. Better safe than sorry is my motto.

I'm afraid a lot of people will never make to the center because of traffic.

Yes! I may adjust my plans. And I better bring my work laptop with me because I don't know that I'm going to make it back to Durham for Tuesday morning.

I don't know if you're real, but I kind of adore your posts.

Worried about that as well. It would be such a shame to drive that way and be stuck in traffic seeing the same thing you'd see here.
