Well, if you are talking about variance with age, its actually quite true. Men typically die younger than women, so as we all age the pool of men does tend to dry up. Those facts are not an expression of anger toward anyone, or an effort to frighten anyone.
To look at it realistically, aging is not a happy prospect for either gender. One gender tends to die, while the other gender tends to be living alone in old age. Speaking about the reality is not a tactic to scare young women. It's a look at the social condition from many perspectives.
Although young people certainly have fresh ideas to bring to the table, like Mr Soma developing that map as an example, they tend to have little life experience which greatly limits their visual scope or even ability to see beyond themselves. At any rate, you don't have to post on these forums long to see that people of any age or gender can spend a lot of time posting here. So, if its merely an effort to get noticed, no one using these forums is innocent of that effort.
On the other hand, unless you know everyone that posts here personally in the real world, the attention you may get is really non-existent. One could do just as well to look in a mirror to stroke their own ego.
When it comes to staying single for long or not, its a personal preference like any other. Sort of like quantity-over-quality versus quality-over-quantity.
Yes, your first paragraph proves there are FEWER men than women after a certain point, reinforcing that "there is an oversupply of men" is patently false.
No, there are not 6 women for every man! LOL! Among those 18 and over, globally, there are 101 men to each 100 women. In the U.S. among adults, there are more women than men. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_sex_ratio However, not significantly more and not until after a certain age. Certainly not for the 18-34s as cited here and rather frequently.
However, you will frequently hear of widows who don't wish to remarry and they travel or do other things with their remaining years. An older woman who is divorced or widowed doesn't necessarily WANT "a man." It is by no means an automatic thing. Until older age the sex ratio of male to female adults is approximately *equal*. After that point we do see these numbers becoming notable. I'm confused, though, how will settling while younger prevent a woman from becoming a widow 40 years later?
Yes, "you'll be old and alone" IS a scare tactic for young women. And it still is no guarantee because even if they settle tomorrow for someone they may wind up old and alone. Anyone might. It is a scare tactic, largely false that they will "wake up" alone and, oh no, childless "at 40", and other silliness. Yes, that is designed to freak young women out. No, it is not overall true.
Lol... lots of sour grapes going on in here. The truth of the matter is that a half way attractive woman whether it be looks or personality is going to be in demand, and will undoubtedly have choices. Statement of fact that obviously some people either don't get or torqued off because it doesn't happen to them. Men chase women, and an attractive woman shouldn't have a problem attracting a number of them. This isn't rocket science people.... it's been going on forever!

Yeah, this is one of those uncomfortable truths that some men don't wanna accept. Some guys get all indignant about it and end up doing the MGTOW thing. For every guy that goes that route you'll have twice as many still chasin after women. Back when I was young and pretty I was pretty lucky in that I didn't have to really pursue that much. Some guys that aren't as lucky and just play the numbers game and just spread a lot of mack around hoping that one bites. I suppose that works too, but to sorta pout about the cold hard reality that a lot of women don't have problems with getting dates or easier in some respects than men have it is just setting yourself for a world of pain. Acceptance of certain things in life is just probably an easier and less painful way to go through life.

I think that's an overly judgmental point of view. Your totally obvious statement that really added little to the conversation is too dismissive of those who had rather valid opinions to share. While, yes, an attractive woman will be in demand, there are many for whom it's all a big ego massage. In other words, look at me, I'm so hot, I'm never single for long.
