I have to agree with you and I'm a woman lol...actually the fashion industry considers a size 12 to be "plus sized". I've received plus sized cataloges and the sizes started at 12. You won't see a size 16 in the "juniors" or "women's" departments. It's usually in "misses" or "plus sized" departments.

Average man's ideal is about a 8/10 US. But that also depends on the woman's height and build.

I remember reading that the average American woman is a size 14 and is approximately 5'4 inches in height. A misses size 14 typically is a woman whose hips measure around 44 inches. I believe a man would take curvy, fit size 8 over a "chunky" size 12 any day. Unless, the woman happens to be a wife or girlfriend and the man has that kind of relationship history with her, maybe kids...and she's put on a little weight over time and it doesn't exactly trouble him. I don't know about those couples. I am a single, so my situation is different. I'm not in a relationship where the man has fallen in love with my inner beauty. When a man sees me walking down the street, I'm going to have to project desirable/attractive at his first glance or it's probably not going to happen; he is probably not going to approach if he doesn't look at me and see "desirable/attractive" And I wouldn't necessarily hold that against him. Maybe next time.

Desirable/attractive to me TODAY means looking healthy and fit, wearing clothes that accentuate the toned curves. He can fall in love with my inner beauty after he meets me. But it would be a little naieve to expect him to look past my fat and fall in love with my kind, sensitive spirit. I'm nothing if not a realist.

I've seen XL and XXL in the juniors. I have been shopping in the juniors section for a couple years now, and only recently went up to XL to avoid buying maternity clothes. I'd guess XL is about a size 14 and XXL 16+. Old Navy plus sizes state at 16/18.

Can you find the article you read? A woman who is a size 14 and is 5'4" is in no way "average". She would be overweight.

Also, are the sizes you're referring to UK or US?

He clearly is attracted to this other woman, however, who has a great body but... has bad teeth. The two front teeth are yellowed and slightly rotted-looking. And he is clearly attracted to her. And he is not an unkept person himself. He dresses decently and has goo hygiene. I am not saying he has to be attracted to me or anything but seriously...her over me? Even with a better by Thewoman does not take care of her MOUTH. He is interested in kissing that...? It - at least to me - also reflects how she might care for a future child`s hygiene (not wel)...etc. Maybe I am guilty of a different kind of prejudice, I don`t know.
I really feel that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it is not nice to judge another because the other person likes that person and not you, she could have various reasons as to why her teeth are that way and perhaps he already knows why, but if you are making negative comments like that about her it says something about your character that is not very nice! Please patience is a virtue there are many men out there who are largely attracted to full figured women and only full figured women please allow the one who will love you for you to enter your life, But please do not make hateful comments as such about another human being and some people due to eating disorders, rheumatic fevers, or drug use sometimes have issues with their teeth, that is rude to imply that would make her a bad mom if she was to have children because you do not know her in that capacity. Please do not put yourself down either there is always someone that is waiting to be with the one who truly loves them for whom they are. Please be nice and wait!!

Does it even matter? Women's sizes vary so incredibly much between brands and they've changed so much over the decades that this really tells you absolutely nothing.

I will try to find it online. the sizes I refer to are U.S. It was published by a company that sells women's clothes, jeans I believe; so their criteria for average is probably based on the buying habits of the American woman, not what is considered healthy, slim or attractive to men.

That is, unless he prefers larger size women. They do exist. *shrug* Though it's true a lot of men will prefer a woman with a specific body type and shape.

"Is being fat literally the worst thing a woman can be?"

Not just "no" but "hell no!"
