I remember getting popcorn from a little generic fast food stand near Luby's at North Star Mall. A little enclosed walk-up eatery in the open area in front of that jewelry place next to Luby's that carries all the exclusive wristwatches.

There was one on the SE side at the corner of Fair and Gevers. I think it's some sort of medical clinic now.

Do they still have Fajita Junctions down in SA? I used to hit the one on Rittiman after school for some beef fajitas to-go. Cheap, fast, and delicious.

Macgrad89,

I LOVED Dick's Hobby shop...the tiny war figures, the magic items, the models...WAY too fun. I drive by there daily and think of them fondly from my childhood (Clemens 77, my brother was Schertz-Cibolo 67).

Shakey's on Austin Highway isn't behind bars...in fact, it IS a bar...Rascal's, maybe???

No shakey's is behind bars, it's practically at the end of my street. It's next to where the Aloha Inn was, and a public storage.

I believe Gallagher's at Windsor was next to the Ward's auto shop, now it's a pawn shop.

While reviewing this LONG thread, I saw the photo of the Whataburger inside Windsor Park Mall. That was Burger Country when it first opened in 1976.

More to come...

Oh, and before Maggie's on San Pedro was Maggie's, it was Reed's Red Derby. Got a photo somewhere of my Dad and both my uncles taken there when I was a wee lad.

And, the ice skating rink at the Quadrangle on Broadway closed around 1978 or so. Racquetball and Fitness moved in there soon after as I clearly remember Dad playing racquetball there in 1980.

I used to love eating at Blanca's Cafe in Kirby, near the Dairy Queen. We'd go there after my brother's Pop Warner games. Place would get packed!
