Does anybody remember Leslie’s Chicken Shack, as depicted in this post card? It was somewhere on Broadway, but I can’t remember exactly where. We liked the chicken there - until that fateful day when it seemed like there were still a few feathers on it.

If anybody can pinpoint its location on Broadway (with respect to Butter Krust Bakery or some other known landmark), please let me know.

That large shopping center across the street where the Golds is now (Toward the infamous former Whopper Burger)...that had a Woolco in there during the 60/70s. I remember when they had the going out of business sale...my family went there just about everyday..then it was Builders Square for many years. There were a few other things in that strip center...and I can't remember. Anyone have any memories?
I remember the Po Folks in the early 80's, and yes the lines were out the door during the first few months it was open. Then they killed somebody inside the freezer and the business went down the tubes, I remember the wait was always more than an hour.

I remember there were a lot of apartments and a Ramada Inn...where the Best Buy is now are you thinking of that area.
I thought the same thing, i remember the Baskin Robbins from the late 70's. I also remember the Ramada/econo lodge at the corner of San Pedro and Isom. I think it was there into the late 80's.

I believe there was an apartment complex there, maybe North Star Eldorado Apartments? The front of the complex was right about where Rooms-to-Go is now. They were torn down probably about 20 years ago. I vaguely remember a tree massacre controversy at that site. Seems there were several mature trees on the property - mostly all Arizona Ash & Hackberry types - that were cut down except for what appeared to be a Pecan tree at the far southwest corner of the property.

My initial reaction is that the Chicken Shack building looks like the current Good Time Charlies which is on Broadway near Mulberry. Check out their website picture:

Thanks, 1313. That looks about where I thought it was. I didn't expect the old Chicken Shack structure to have survived, but I guess it's possible.

If you guys/gals run across any photos of the old Mission Stadium on Mission Road please post them!! Big names that played there? Think Babe Ruth played here.

Babe Ruth did play here, there is a picture of him at bat at the top of the tower of americas. It states the year and where the game was played.

An interesting exercise in communication:

The first time I read your statement, I thought you were saying Babe Ruth was somehow batting at the top of the Tower of Americas, and you had even found a picture of him doing that.

After re-reading it, I guess you’re saying there’s a picture at the top of the Tower that shows Babe Ruth batting at Mission Stadium.

I live close to west ave and blanco and that address is vacant, in between church's and TC. I am think 4512 fred rd is next to Church's.
