Liberty Bar, today, for lunch...
Great pot roast sandwich, served with a dry side of eggy potato salad and sliced tomato. Loved the homemade sourdough they used. My only issue with LB remains what's been it's Achilles heel since they re-opened: It's a sterile, boring, uncomfortable dining room with no music and bad acoustics. The servers look too starched in white shirts and the casual vibe of the original location is just gone... I fear for good.
I won't go back again soon. I just don't feel comfortable there anymore.

BN, I'm so sorry to hear that. I haven't been to the Lib in their new location - it makes me a little sad. Reading your review makes me feel a whole lot sad.
We had brunch at the Flour Power cafe. Was good.

Just had lunch at La Focaccia in the Lavaca district. I love their red wine vinegrette dressing and am still trying to figure out what seasonings they put in it. The waitress said it was just pureed red onions, but it has to be more than just that!

I never had a chance to eat at the original location but heard about it many times from others.
Does anyone know why they left the original location?
The new location I have eaten at once. It was pretty much like BN described it. Very sterile, boring, and little character. Food was pretty good though. Waitstaff was very professional.
I left the place thinking that it was nothing like it was described to me by others that dined at the original location.
Does anyone know why they relocated?

They rented the building and had a long history of disputes with the owner. A push for above market rent was likely the final straw.

Bingo. And what's worse is that when they moved, they put so many additional rules into the new location that they lost some of their best, most personable servers. Their waitstaff now function like robots. It's a very medicinal service within a very medicinal restaurant. Gone is the personality, and that could have very easily transferred over if they had the right management running the place.

Sol Luna - it was OK. Had lobster enchiladas. They were reasonably tasty. It came with plantains but you have to have microscope to find them on the plate. Margarita was good.
