I guess its luck of the draw, when i went service was great.

I went to the Piedras Negras Cafe on Laredo and San Marcos street, some of the best tacos I have had in a long time.

It's been a few years since I ate there, but I used to love their chicken mole enchildadas...best mole sauce I've had in San Antonio.

Ate at Drew's American Grill. It was a little disappointing. Both my wife and I (so you know it's not just me) found the food to be rather bland and over priced. The only exception was the traditional French onion soup and it was so salty I could only eat about 2 spoons of it and had to give up. The waiter commented on it when he picked it from the table saying "I told them in the back it was too salty", however, they didn't t credit it back to my bill at the end of the night.

I may give it another try, but right now not sure I can recommend it.

Luthers last night with a friend. I know how Luthers is, especially before the post-club rush, slow, slow, oh and slow. So once we got our beer, we just took our time to relax and catch up. We decided we wanted to split some chips and salsa and a pulled pork sandwich. Food came out nice and warm and the pulled pork tasted good. Enjoying dinner until I bit into my sandwhich and felt the familiar presence of a hair. Lo and behold it was a hair. After a few moments of discussion over whether or not it could have been mine with my friend, she said it couldn't have been mine since my hair was in my 'military style" bun I wear when I work in my lab and I hadn't opened my sandwhich.

Anyways, I stopped eating mid meal. Left everything there with the hair ontop of a napkin. Informed the waiter, manager came over and wiped it from my bill, and my friend and I left, a little grossed out, and walked over to Sparkys to finish drinking our dinners.

Sorry to hear that, but I can't say I'm shocked. The only thing redeeming about Luthers is their bar... Not the speed of it, but the strength of the drinks. I've had far too many crap experiences there, so it's a place I don't go back to anymore. For an eatery that's owned by the same folks who monopolize the gay strip, it's a shame they can't hire people who smile now and then or have a kitchen that can crank out quality greasy grub.

Went there for dinner last weekend, got there before the rush and service and food was good. If you want to try it again SAcurrent had a $30 gc for $15.

visiting NYC this week and some friends took me to "db Bistro Moderne" in the theater district. They told me that I had to try the $32 burger (the "original db burger"), so i did. Very interesting, as the sirloin patty is like 2 inches thick and is filled with foie grass and truffle. They recommended it medium rare, and while the meat was pretty tasty, it was a little too cold in the middle. Definitely worth trying once (for the "been there, done that")

By the way, they also have a $75 and $150 burgers, which just have more truffle. I would probably pass on those.

If you are still in NYC go Gallagher's steak house on 52th St great steak.
