it's true, and something every black male from a professor to a thug will encounter. I encountered it myself numerous times. Girls have this view of us based on stereotypes and expect us to live to it.

The rest of your post is pretty much worthless. What are you trying to say?

I find it off putting belittling others in posts.

Yes, I can see how we 2 are the so terrible ever! for not feeding into a generalization that Seattleite women are racist.

Freebird isn't even by any means a Seattle booster. At least give him/her some credit.

I can't speak about a woman's perception of black men in Seattle. I've literally only been in the city for less than 4 days. I've been living in Atlanta for 20 years, and spent a good majority of my career there. Anyway, I will say I'm pretty much the ONLY black person where I work. While I haven't seen my boss yet (been on vacation), I'm pretty sure I'm the only black guy on my team. Now this situation isn't altogether uncommon for me, but I will say there is something different about how I'm treated in Seattle vs Atlanta. For one, being only black guy I expected to get tested, expected people to shrug me off, not help me, force me to get my own info, etc. Boy was I wrong. Not only do people help me when I ask a question, they'll ask other team members, and then they'll get involved. What?! The whole dynamic of cut throat competition and out doing the other guy isn't even on anyone's radar where I work (and even amongst other teams in the office). And I can tell you right off, I'm pretty sure there isn't another black guy in the building. But I'm still greeted in the hall ways, on the elevator, in the cafeteria, etc. It seems like there aren't a lot of black people around, but it's not a big deal when there is one.

On the flip side, in Atlanta, in that same situation, I would definitely be treated a bit more hostile. I already know that they would not show me anything. They'll randomly give me hard task to do that I wasn't trained for. Someone would already be the boss office complaining about me. I mean in Atlanta, I would have to play it 100% perfect and be super aggressive in finding information or resources. I basically would have to outperform the other people. Hell knowing I would be the only black guy in the Seattle office, I pretty much came here expecting to hump it, and basically work 24/7 just to stay ahead of the curve. Sure I do plan on learning a lot, but it seems the people I'm working with seems to want to help me down that path, instead of block me from it.

This could be a West coast thing, as offices in the West Coast are known to be more laid back. I am use to wearing slacks or a polo. These guys come to work with shorts on, and they don't even shave. I look like I'm in the wrong place coming to work.

I'm going to be coming from Hawaii where it's even more laid back, but it's nice to hear that people in Seattle (at least where you work) aren't hyper-intense corporate drones.

I see plenty of overweight white women in this city with about two or three half-black children trailing behind them everywhere. So clearly, there ARE white women in this city who love black men.

Columbia is on the cusp. If you're going to don a Columbia vest, you'd better have something else going for you, like a good personality or nice hair.
Seriously? Are people in Seattle that shallow?
