70 would be too much, 24 is well worth it.

John is combining his "reported" 5 year earnings with his total transfer fee.

United are only paying $15M upfront for him and $9M of performance related add-ons which will probably center around # of matches played.

ahhhh, cause we always include earnings n stuff when we talk about transfer fees right ? Whats that put Carrol at then ? Van Persie is well worth it if he helps Utd get the League back and win the CL.

You are over stating his injury prone-ness. Most players get injured. And he wasn't 70million. He is world class and if I was a Man United fan I would be happy with the ambition the club is showing with their signings.
His transfer is £24 million and he is on a 4 years contract worth £50 million. Thats over £70 million. That is a big risk no matter what you say.

I never said transfer fee. I said RVP will cost Man Utd £70 million. Carroll's fee was £35 million but Carroll is only on £60k a week. RVP is on £220k a week. RVP is costing Man Utd more then Carroll is costing Liverpool.

I know he is mate, dont get me wrong but my point is its a huge risk. He is injury prone which makes his transfer a risk. I guess we will see throughout the season.

In other news, Southampton look set to sign Gaston Ramirez from under Liverpool and Tottenham's noses. Well played Saints, well played.

Was Ronaldo a risk at well over 100million? No. He is proven at the highest level like van Persie. Unlike Carrol.

Seeing that Ronaldo did what RVP did last season, every season and that Ronaldo was not injury prone and was not 29, no I wouldn't say he was half as big a risk of RVP. Oh and why do you guys keep comparing RVP with Carroll? What does Carroll have to do with any of this?

You are talking about risk, Carrol was expensive and so was van Persie. Who is the biggest risk lol. RVP isn't a risk, he isn't unique that he has had a few injuries, he is 29 but in great shape so he can easily play out his 4 year contract and score 25 plus goals a season. Watch him shine, Man United have bought him at his peak.
