I wasnt happy with way this wk's was intercut with real people from real gun/discrimination episodes
Columbine had nothing to do with this story really--even though was very sad event
Better examples of athletes rape cases covered up but maybe that wasnt "elevated enough" for national dialogue
The fact that the police apparently didnt confiscate sny phones at that party or who received those txts/photos was disturbing--
Shots like that go beyond a misdemeanor--they in themselves can be federal offense
And Kevin is just a real piece of poop
His mama hasnt done him any favors

I haven't read the entire thread- but from what I have read, it is interesting how many comments are focused on the individual students as opposed to those in charge- Leslie and Coach Sullivan- who time and again made multiple bad decisions to cover up the incident to protect the team and individuals of influential families. Had they instead done the right thing, treated everyone equitably, and truly sought answers to what happened, it would have been an entirely different story. Tragic to think that the show likely reflects the reality of these situations in real life. I still hold out hope that Leslie and the coach are called to account for their disgraceful handling of the situation.

The coach and headmaster have been reacting poorly. However, the students created the situation in the first place.

Yes, the students are responsible for their role in the situation. However, the administration and faculty are responsible for setting the standard for culture, and for what is and isn't acceptable at the school. Leslie and the coach had already set this standard which consisted of doing what was (arguably) right for the school (as opposed to doing what was right for the students), unconditional support for wealthy donors/legacies, providing lip service to doing providing equal opportunity for its scholarship students, and creating a system that prioritized privilege over equity, and political CYA over truth. When an institutional culture is compromised it stinks from the head down; the students were operating within that environment. That isn't to say that they aren't responsible for what they did, only that they had gotten the message from their parents and from the school that either their actions were above reproach or that they wouldn't be held accountable.
I understand that others will have a different take.

^^ Thank you. The administration actually knew about these 'captain parties' and would just give them a wink and a nod, knowing that there was drinking, drugs and sexual conduct and Taylor wasn't the only one who was allegedly raped at these parties.

It's really going to go to another level now that the Coach has found out that his daughter sold Taylor the drugs that were in his own house. Talk about chickens coming home to roost!

None are above reproach in the matter, the adults on all fronts are the enablers here and should very much bare a good portion of the blame of what took place; yes, it would be good to see the chicks come home to roost if that will be the case here, sometimes it happens, sometimes not, either way, future generations will continue to pay a price as some, will always feel it was someone else's fault.
