No one said it helps unemployed people. Its a seperate issue. This helps underpaid people. Giving them an extra $2+ an hour. This is the new fight in congress now that the extension fight is over.
Republicans do not support the raise to the minimum wage . (some dont support the minimum wage at all ) So no one knows. It may get stalemated again. . It does help us unemployed since there is a big difference in a job that pays $7 and a job that pays $10.10 Thats an extra around $120 a week and an extra $400 a month. Thats a big deal to people living paycheck to paycheck.
if the extension doesn't pass now, it won't pass later.. the next few weeks just makes everybody forget about it and makes it easier to say no when it comes up again.this is what i get for working all my life since 16. the kicker is that there are no jobs because of this government's actions. no jobs to support my family. worked my ass off to have everything i own only to now possibly lose it. they will push the minimum wage now and forget the unemployment extensions. and that won't pass either. it's a joke. meanwhile people who don't work get too mooch off on welfare for life who don't get cut
I'm all for veterans benefits and repealing the cuts. But the focus right now should still be on unemployment which includes some veterans who are not getting anything right now.
While I agree with you njguy524, it lost 3 votes , they have to move onto other issues. Its unfortunate but its probably over for now. At this point they should start to work on the long term plan they were supposed to try to do if this passed,
