Hearing about all the crazy traffic today near the outlet mall. I honestly think this is going to bad for a while, at least until after the holidays.

And apparently parking is so bad people are parking along 295 and police are ticketing them.

Sounds like good news to me. Popularity is good. Residents should cash in. Charge $10 to park at their house like they do at FedEx.

But a real test of success would be after the holiday shopping season. To see how crowded it is in January.

It is good news but I was curious if they are using the Plateau for overflow parking. Maybe UrbanScholar knows. If so, then I can only imagine how many people are out there.

I think it will still get a lot of business after the holidays. It won't be this bad but the southern part of the county doesn't have any other places really competing so this is going to be a go to place especially since it's new.

It is absolutely packed. Not enough parking at all. They are filling up the lot where all the circus events happen and also NH parking. Crazy.

Yeah the place where the circus is at is the Plateau.

Do you know if they are charging people to park at National Harbor?

I am sure they are. It is only free at the mall. Part of their plan?

I'm about to head out and see.

Yes they are using the Plateau for overflow parking. I traveled on Oxon Hill Rad this morning around 8:30 to be curious. The lots at the outlet itself were already closed by police. Variable message signs posted along Oxon Hill Road just after the flyover to I-295 were directing outlet traffic to turn right onto National Avenue and Harborview Avenue towards the waterfront area. There were then signs directing outlet traffic to park in the area at the Plateau that is usually used for events.

I also noticed new signs on the Wilson Bridge and on the Inner Loop of the Beltway to use exit 3-A for Tanger Blvd.

Not sure about charging to park at National Harbor, but I did see shuttles running up the hill from the waterfront as early as 8:30 this morning.

Traffic was crazy both I saw a lot of available parking in the supplemental are when I came and when I was leaving. There is no reason to park on 295 even if parking was full to capacity. Come back another day sheesh!! Anyone that dumb to park there needs to be towed.

You guys are making me very sad because I wanted to go today despite my general distaste for outlet malls (they sent me coupons! they know my kryptonite!) but I also hate crowds, especially hoards of Christmas shoppers...

DILEMMA!
