I wouldn't mind freak summer cool spells when highs dip in the 60's and nights in the 40's. As long as it's short-lived and it's also sunny during the period.
I don't mind sunshine in the summer, matter of fact, I like sunny, warm summer with highs at 76-84F and lows at 52-60F. TOO much sunshine is boring for me though, and I would like a roughly about 55/45 division in sunny and cloudy days in the fall and winter. With 55% being the cloudy and 45% being the sunny.
I would like to live in a climate that had days above 65F from roughly Late May- Mid September. One that has the first frost around the first day of fall, and the last frost on June 1st or so. One that averages roughly 175-250 days below 32F!

55/45 cloudy/sunny split for fall and winter?
You need to be in Canada's "sunbelt" (Prairie provinces) to see it that sunny in fall and winter.
Toronto's like a 80/20 split for cloudy days vs. sunny days from mid-fall thru early spring.
Minus the frostiness, we generally have that.
Days below 32 F does not the inverse of frost-free seasons...
If you have 250 days below freezing, your frost free season would be virtually zero days.
Do you actually want to live somewhere with no more than a 3 month growing season?
Toronto only average 146 days with lows under 32 F,
yet the growing season is only 150 days long, not 219 days.
Do you consider 14-20 summer days in a row under 70 F short-lived? (I don't...)
When it's that cool, it's usually sunny about half all hours of daylight at the most.
Also remember, calmness is nearly impossible here when it's that cool too;
expect a breeze at 8mph + during daylight.
If none of this bothers you, then you'd enjoy the climate around Toronto, minus a few random heat waves.
People like me, ColdCanadian and SAB should all go somewhere warm and start a utopian community
I think I'd need a utopian work permit or citizenship first.

This could have the hottest average temps east of the Mississippi.

July averages 95/72 F while most parts of the southeast average no higher than low 90's F for their hottest monthly high.
What to do in Hopkins?
There's a national park of old-growth forest and swamp, so camping, fishing, boating etc.
in a setting with massive trees and probably plentiful wildlife.
And there's always Death Valley,
who summer averages would probably feel ridiculuous:

Are you sure about that? Because the skies have been pretty gray and dreary here in NC for this week, except for today. Thats not true for the WHOLE state of texas. You live in Houston so that might be so, but in Austin the skies are just as blue if not bluer lol than NC.
I think when the sun is out the sky is bluer in NC than Texas, but I am referring to the mountains and the humidity is lower there which makes for bluer skies.

Same could be said for Ausin and the Lago Vista area that is high in elevation.
