The neutral American / Canadian accent pretty much sounds the same. Justin Bieber is a good example. However, I believe there is a big generational difference as well - the younger generation of Canadians sound more and more similar to Americans. Old people in Minnesota can often sound more Canadian than the younger generation of Canadians.
I had a friend from Winnipeg when i was in high school, there are a few words he spoke differently, but he had the same accent as everyone else, same with his parents. This was in Topeka, Ks. My guess is someone from New England or the South could not tell us apart.
Yea my uncle came down to Florida and his partner who is from Winnipeg basically has the same accent.
I kind of feel that North American accents are quite consistent were as accents in the British isles are pretty much inconsistent and vary alot.
I try and listen to the accents here and tbh I can't tell a difference, only between Texas and deep south accents. I think I can detect a west coast accent maybe.. Its abit softer. But yeah the accents here aren't really that different to one another.

Some Canadians do sound American yes e.g Vancouver and Toronto but the most of them don't. I have listened to videos and thought the person was American before they mentioned that they were from Canada.
Some Canadians pronounce the word "role" somehow like "raw". Not exactly the same but close.
Americans pronounce it more like "roe". Again not exactly the same.
There's no one american accent so you can't generalize that canadians do or don't sound like americans. Based on your examples would you ever mistake a bostonian for a texan or an oregonian for someone from kansas? and yet they are all american accents.
Most canadians sound closest to what is known as the general american newscaster accent or midwest accent. Peter Jennings is a good example of a canadian with that tenor:
I have a North London accent but with a twang, ( God knows where that came from, Norfolk or Ireland), I used to say mate ( still do, if I meet builders in my job!). I am sure most builders go home and listen to classical music and speak with a posh accent. But I have been told twice, in America, are you Australian? when queing at SeaWorld. Quite flattered. I think Australians have a London, English West Country ( u will soon see POLDARK and understand why), poss southern Irish lilt.
