Well...there is a history that kept the two sides apart, and it wasn't just the river.

The "Atlanta sucks, Cobb rules" trolls, and the "Atlanta rules, Cobb sucks" forum regulars, are both annoying.

There's stuff to appreciate on both sides of the river. And this is one metro. Quit turning everything into "us vs. them", and let's all just be nice to each other and appreciate the nice things that we have. You can still go to the Braves game if you ever want to, and in the meantime, the city gets that awesome GA State redevelopment. So I don't understand why you have to be negative and apparently wish for our failure out here. Why don't you just let us enjoy our area and our new stadium, that we didn't even ask for, anyway.
The vast majority of the COA residents I know are fine with the Braves relocation to Suntrust Park. The ones who've been there love it.

Sure, there was a twinge of nostalgia when it was first announced but it was hardly the end of the world. Let's face it -- the city never did beans to redevelop the area around Turner Field and it was no picnic getting there.

Cobb is an integral part of the ATL and I'm glad they were there when the city dropped the ball in the Braves negotiation. We were pretty well tapped out, anyway, so it looks like all parties are coming out ahead.

But that is just not true. There were multiple city provided plans to redevelop Turner Field area that Liberty Media never went for. Now that the Braves are gone, the area is redeveloping far beyond the likes of "The Battery". The Braves were the problem.

I drive in from Nashville TN to see Braves games, I love how the games are cheap and not as crowded I never liked going to Fenway or Wrigley and paying a lot to see next to a fat old guy. I have not been to the new stadium I am pumped cannot wait to go.

For most of Buckhead, the Braves moved closer. Collier Rd is about the midpoint between the two stadiums.

It's a win-win for both Cumberland and Summerhill, since they both get these nice, exciting, area-catalyzing developments. And it's a win for the rest of the metro, since we get both of these new developments and whatever else comes from them.

I mean, they moved 14 miles, y'all. I commute 26 miles to work every morning. That's why all this "good riddance, hope you fail in your new home" talk seems silly to me.

And by all means, don't go to the games. But don't go to the games because the team sucks and the ownership sucks. Not because of our socio-political metro balkanization mindset. I wish everyone would please stop with that stuff, OTP and ITP.

This is true.

And it's also true that the vast majority of today's Cobb residents didn't live in Cobb County when those divisions were sowed. Most of them probably didn't even live in the metro area. The divisions have become less and less relevant with each passing year, and quite frankly most people don't care anymore.

Let's also not forget that Cobb developers are the ones behind popular intown projects like Krog Street Market and the big Atlanta Dairies project out on Memorial Drive.

And where would the ATL be without signature Cobb companies like Home Depot, Lockheed and Genuine Parts?
