I do not watch reality shows because of the overabundance of ignorance that they portray. The Real Housewives of Atlanta show and the short lived Preacher Wives show I was able to see a couple of episodes (because I was in places on both occasions where there was no democracy with regard to changing channels). I do not care for that NeNe character nor any of those pastors' wives, they were loud and brash along with the neck turning, etc. There was constant chaos and backstabbing on the shows. As an African-American woman I am angry and disappointed that we are still accepting roles of this type and are comfortable in displaying this to the world. From what I have seen these women seemed befuddled at the ability to have adult conversations and getting their point across without the "hood" behavior. This is exactly what Hollywood loves, the stereotype. Just as in the old days African-American women were only pigeon-holed into portraying "mammies." How dreadful. To answer the question of the original poster yes the show gives the perception that everyone shares in the yuppie lifestyle.
