I guess the book is too new to be translated already.

Sorry...

Hmmm. Okay, I have an idea: You, me, and Mayvenne meet somewhere and you read it to us, translated into English.

I read this many years ago and liked it. I didn't know TNT was making it into a series -- could be interesting.

Default struts and frets his hour upon the stage,

The skill of our hands / Steven Brust and Skyler White, c2017, Tom Doherty Associates.

Subjects
Immortality -- Fiction.
Memory -- Fiction.
Man-woman relationships -- Fiction.
Secret societies -- Fiction.
Survival -- Fiction.
Immortality -- Fiction.
Arizona -- Fiction.
Kansas -- History -- 19th century -- Fiction.
Notes
"A Tom Doherty Associates book."

Summary
The Incrementalists are a secret society of two hundred people - an unbroken lineage reaching back forty thousand years. They cheat death, share lives and memories, and communicate with one another across nations and time. They have an epic history, an almost magical memory, and a very modest mission: to make the world better, a little bit at a time."

Series
Incrementalists ; 2

Length 348 pages ;

This caught my eye. I've heard of Brust, but not read him before. This reads like fantasy to me, but the historical detail is convincing. A complicated plot, a lot of explaining about the shared mindspace the Incrementalists share/create. I probably need to read the first of the series to fully understand this one.

A moderate endorsement from me - readers who like fantasy would probably enjoy it more.

I enjoyed this when I read it years ago but haven't enjoyed other books of his that I've tried to read. I'll keep an eye out for the series.

OMG! You did? I read it recently but haven't admitted it to anyone until now. I totally agree with you. It went straight into my giveaway pile. I'm pretty broadminded but that crossed the line for me.

The books center on a retired Marine Sgt (a sniper) who buys a boat and an personal/tiny island in the Keys and becomes a charter/fishing captain...but he is like a magnet for danger...joins a covert Homeland Security Team and dangerous missions against various enemies...
He even take President Bush fishing...

I just ordered the first one in the series, thanks.
