I have good friends who say they are Christians but are not affiliated with any group. Is this acceptable to God? Does He require us to to attend the services of a church?
Why does it say in Luke 4:16 that Jesus, "as was his custom, he went to the synagogue on the Sabbath day”?

The synagogue was a gathering place for Jews. It was the perfect place for Jesus and His Apostles to teach and worship. Since Jesus lived under the Law of Moses, He would be required to keep the Sabbath holy.
However, people may find it entertaining or prefer to gather with others, even if they do not agree on everything that is being taught - it's more of a social gathering for the religious mindset and for worshiping (songs and praise). For others, it's about collecting a tithe or contributing based on a set of beliefs.
We each have a place to get ‘nourishments’ suitable for us individually
I’m going to send you a direct message. Ok?
