If the kids were grown and I were rolling in dough, Monterey would be the easy choice. But it's so expensive even by CA standards, and I'm not going to raise my children in California - so at this stage of my life I'd pick Manchester.
Priest River, Idaho or Prophetstown, Illinois?

Prophetstown. A little bigger and not far from the Quad Cities area. Greenville MS or Pine Bluff Ark?
Greensboro. Better economy and I like the area. Hickory NC or Burlington NC?
Burlington. I have in-laws there. Like being in the Greensboro area and not far from Raleigh/Durham. In another 10 years, I might be saying Hickory, though. I think they will be coming into their own in the 2020's. Love their proximity to Charlotte, Asheville, and Boone. Neat little metro. But for now, Burlington it is.
Providence. Detroit has too many issues. Fargo ND or Sioux Falls SD?
Probably Sioux Falls but they're both nice.
Sherwood, Oregon or Sherwood, Arkansas?
