I have to agree with you. I guess it's because of the connections between the 2 states. Alot of Californians moving to TX, and ALL the Texans that moved to California back in the 40's and 50's during the Great Migration. Alot of people I knew when I lived in TX had family in CA, or moved from CA. And then both states are on the Mexican border, so they both share the same demographics of HIGH Mexican populations, and culture. CA has the highest population of Hispanics and TX 2nd. So CA and TX seem more connected then CA and NY. CA and NY are alike in a political sense, both are pretty liberal Democratic voting states. But that's where it DEFINATELY ends.

i don't think texans are as much egotistical as they are insecure. tx is overlooked so much when it comes to culture and happenings in this country. and with the socialized "chip on the shoulder" mentality, tx is more rude with bravado and unsophisticated attempts at bragging. new yorkers can be rude in instances - maybe closer to the city, but are nowhere near as obnoxious and disappointing.

I was going to pick several states but then thought it would be divisive and pointless, because honestly there are egotistical and humble people in every state. But I will say that there seems to be more hothead egomaniacs in just about every big city and their metro suburbs compared to more country/rural areas where people are more humble about their surroundings. I get that a lot where I live in VA. I live in a semi rural area and it seems there is a perception from many Northern Virginians that the rest of the state is some backwash hicktopia. Nothing could be farther from the truth. I have picked up on this in other areas as well, like with NYC compared with upstate NY, or Philly or Pittsburgh compared with central PA. Don't get me wrong, I love big cities and frequent them often, but I have also heard some of the most uninformed, closeminded and ignorant comments about other regions from these so called enlightened educated areas.

NY...NYC in particular. we have our reasons as to why we have large egos, tho.

i agree with this too.

Probaby New York, California, and Texas. Like a previous poster said NY and Cali more for egos and Texas more for pride.

you should just make this your signature because you say the same thing every time you refer to Texans.

Chicago seems to either have really big egos or a really big inferiority complex. Not sure which.

i think our egos and pride go hand in hand. we know we're from someplace better (in our minds) and we constantly compare it to everywhere else. we have a lot to be proud of...
i would argue that nyers have more pride than ppl from texas, easily.

Doubt it. Texas is known for being the most prideful state in the country. NYers are never related to pride, but more of having an overgrown ego.

due to pride of where we're from. again, it goes hand in hand.
a lot of us tend to have a large ego for a reason.
ny is compared to ____ city/state for a reason. pride of where we're from.
