Seems like Southern CT is struggling this year. Central/ Northern CT was a week or so behind but looking pretty good now.

October 29, 2018.
Stratford, CT

Should be more colors by now and less green. This stage is usually seen about 2 weeks ago.

My backyard Maple tree yesterday October 30, 2018.

Using less sunlight as an excuse for the start of foliage changes is like using ground too warm ground for accumulating snow. "Wrong"

One of the latest foliage seasons I remember. Heading into November with green leaves

I found peak colors in Greenwich. So vibrant!! Stunning.

From the Library parking lot.
Sugar Maples and a couple Oaks in there (marroon color)

Funny how one sugar maple still is greenish. Trees have a mind of their own. Lol.

Meanwhile... North Greenwich. All depends what species there are around.

Damn those Greenwich shots are NICE. I think up here in central CT we've officially entered the peak. Colors everywhere. It's been a real treat to see to and from work. Took a while to get going but very satisfied with how this year has turned out.

Today was a real pretty one around here. My maples in the backyard are spectacular- the tall Japanese is fiery red and the small dwarf Japanese looks like a giant orange pumpkin. Probably will wind up being the best day of the year after the storms forecasted for tomorrow pass through - I imagine many leaves will be gone by Saturday.

Thanks. Yeah, it got my attention from the street.
I was wrong about this yr the leaves would just shrivel and fall. I thought the freeze would damage them but looks like there wasnt enough hard freeze.

So with all the rains we had and recent chilly days.. they are showing their true colors.
