How are you guys doing with colors?

November 4, 2017

My backyard Maple tree is still Fully Green!

Most of the area is either dull colors or bare now though. Some pockets of green still around

Leaves pretty much look like this.. Horrible looking fall this year.

I left Ct a week ago, but could tell it would not be a good foliage year. Leaves in my area stayed green turned brown and fell. Even the maple trees were a disappointment. But I have hundreds of photos of foliage in years past that I can look at and savor when I get some free time,

Connecticut Fall Foliage-talcott.png

At the top of the Heublein Tower 10/21/17. Pretty pleasing I think.

Seems rather muted. Nice view though.

Personally I was happy w/ the foliage this year. It's not a trip up 91 to Vermont but I'm easy to please.

I was driving down Summer Street in Stamford and glimpsed at a large old maple tree. Oh my God!!!! Some of the leaves have the orange/red tint coming out. Is this tree kidding?!! Please tell me this is only a nightmare and I will wake up soon. Fall in July!!! First a couple of cold days (yes, for this time of the year those 60's are down right cold!) and now this!!!

I also noticed that one of my neighbors bought a couple of Foxtail palms and put them in their backyard. That did got my blood pressure down. Stupid maple tree!!!!

Connecticut, you can do as you wish during the rest of the year, but don't mess with my Summer!!! No cold air and definitely no leaves changing colors in July!! Please!!!!

So apparently this year was a reminder that we can have a cool wet Summer/August but if September is well above normal AND very dry with no rains and carrys over into October with Record warm and dryness....it ruins the colors and makes us late...

Being that its July I am going to say that is stress.

If we can continue these cool days in August we'll start to see more and more change. Typically don't see the start of it until end of August. So it's a bit too soon now. Way too soon.

One of the dullest colored year I remember and Late by like 3 weeks. We should be thinned out and bare by now especially with the winds we're having today; not this!

Not even the burning bushes are fully turned yet

Guess that "IF" became a DIDNT. lol.

The pattern completely changed right after those posts to a Dry Hot one. Totally ruined things.

Now it seems like we've reversed the pattern in November. Little too late.

Our peak this year was late but to be honest I don't even know when it happened? leaves were brittle, browned, colorless and a lot dropped before peak happened I think.. The timing was weird this year.

Oh hell guys, this happens almost every year. Every year, people complain its not a good year for the leaves for so and so reasons.

But guess what? The leaves are still beautiful. They might not be spectacular as some years but it is still a beautiful time a year. I thank God that I live in the Northeast this time a year.

WOW! I really didn't believe many of Camb's photos as being representative of how lower FFC is. I drove 95 this morning to NYC and I am honestly dumbfounded by how much green there is. What the heck!

Few pics from Greenwich this morning.. November 11, 2017

I mean there is shade like its summer only that the sun angle is so much lower. lol

Also in Greenwich with a close up of the leaves.. A lot of leaves are now burnt and curling because of the hard freeze.
