Clean your own house before you equivocate.
You can’t be serious. Accusing an entire political party of playing political games has nothing to do with crime on the streets that affects our friends and neighbors. Suggesting the two are at all similar is insane. Talk about ridiculous.

These are precisely the left wing excuses posters were referring to above (see post #412 by Dazzleman).

Posted by Heidi Voight, an NBC CT anchor:

CALLS FOR CHANGE: Pinned between his police cruiser and a stolen vehicle, Farmington Police Officer James O’Donnell suffered devastating injuries and multiple broken bones on September 20 while attempting to stop a person believed to be stealing catalytic converters. As he begins a long journey to healing that will include learning how to walk again, his wife is casting some blame in the direction of Connecticut's Police Accountability Act.

“Right now, I seem to be more impacted by the recent policing reform legislation than the writers themselves," writes Kristen O’Donnell in an Instagram post. "Maybe these people should come tuck my kids in at night and tell them a story about how Mr. Policeman was (run) over by 'the guy who needed to be protected.'"

In a letter to lawmakers, O'Donnell is also pleading for legislators to revisit HB6004 and consider an amendment, writing in part, "I can’t help but wonder, if even for a moment, he hesitated to defend his life knowing the repercussions he and his family could face as a result of House Bill 6004, the Act Concerning Police Accountability. I ask you this: What about the accountability of the criminal who crushed Officer O’Donnell with a stolen vehicle?... I am no expert on criminal law or the justice system, but I do know there is something wrong when police officers are limited in their duty to protect law-abiding citizens."

I was responding to a post that said the "criminal element is a big part of the their [Democratic] base..." That's ridiculous and offensive.

I'm not making a comparison to crime on the streets. Attempting to steal an election, deriding approved vaccines in a pandemic, and an insurrection in Washington DC impacts plenty of friends on neighbors and demonstrates that Republicans are far from free of a criminal element.

If you don't like false generalizations, then don't make them.

Since we like studies so much, here’s an NYU study showing 73% of felons would vote Democrat over Republican.

https://as.nyu.edu/content/dam/nyu-a...ontraction.pdf

Since there are about 19 million with a felony record in the USA, I’d say the 3/4 that would vote Democratic is a pretty solid base.

But this is about juvenile crime in CT, so let’s stop derailing.

Can you blame them? Republicans love to criminalize and punish versus rehabilitate. How many lives were ruined by smoking marijuana?

Regardless that doesn't mean that they make up a significant number of the base. The original statement was offensive and dismissive.

You could always stop the "derailing" by not responding.

So, first, you’re disputing the validity of the statement. Then, once provided a study that shows the majority of felons vote Democrat, you segue.

I would consider 15 million voters of ~75 million democratic voters to be quite significant. These numbers pretty much solidify the poster’s statement that the voting base of the Democratic Party would be criminals. Hard to argue otherwise with a straight face.

Bingo, the Orange man car-jacked and assaulted has no interest in political talking points. Just safety-on Ct streets, in his OWN garage.

Todays savages-a/k/a juvenile criminals- are his enemy, and the Ct Dems are aiding and abetting criminals.

Either Ct will start taking care of them aggressively, or one of our well armed law-abiding neighbors likely will. As long as the trash (criminal violent juves) are taking care of, I am indifferent to how it occurs.

Car-jacking juveniles will not be rehabilitated. They are 2030's murderers in training-until stopped.
