Most of the Brits I've come across on social media don't care NEARLY as much as the Americans do.
And I disagree that they owe anybody anything. She is not in a role that is crucial to the governing of the country. I can understand needing to know the health of a President or Prime Minister. But not the wife of the next in line. If she died tomorrow (G-d forbid), it wouldn't change the trajectory of the country one bit.
Exactly!
American and even some Continental news media (and one uses that term quite broadly) lost their meal ticket when Diana, Princess of Wales left this earth. They kept that money making memory going long as they could until other events or royals provided replacement.
Until recently it has been the Ginger Whinger (Prince Harry) and the Markle woman that were focus of much tittle-tattle that sells.
Kate Middleton having both been forewarned and having the example of Diana, POW has not provided sort of bang for buck aforementioned news media wishes. They've got a few good stories in past, but nothing like this sort of manufactured scandal. Now they're licking their chops and will milk this story for all it's worth.
When People magazine feels need to issue a statement, you know there is money at stake.
Whatever major role The Princess of Wales, the Duchess of Cambridge was meant to full fill, she's done so. Kate Middleton has produced three heirs, her work such as it is, is done.

It may offend your delicate sensibilities but job number one for any royal or noble wife is to breed heirs. That hasn't changed much in hundreds or thousands of years.
Had Prince William not bred children of his duchess there would be considerable talk in certain quarters. More so seeing how things have turned out with Prince Harry.
No one is saying things would return to days of Henry VIII and his six wives, nor Victoria's "wicked uncles", but never the less things are what they are.
The conspiracy noise is coming primarily from U.S. citizens.
How does anyone know this? It starts with internet chat and anyone online can be anywhere in the world.
Brits have always loved their tabloids and gossip regarding the royals.

Didn't say they didn't, but they also seem to realize that the tabloids are entertainment more than anything. In the U.S., those same tabloids are often treated like actual news sources.
Typically because they are of royal or noble birth, which is not the case here.
Doesn't make a difference what their social rank was prior to marriage, royal consorts and wives of peers (among others) are expected to bred children.
It may sound antediluvian to American ears but across UK and even on Continent marriage in certain circles is about what it has always been; familial avarice, bloodlines and getting of heirs.
Albert II, Prince of Monaco is but a case in point. Having already sired a few by-blows the prince didn't need to marry, but Monaco's throne needed an heir (otherwise country would devolve onto France). So like many a royal or serene highness before him Prince Albert went hunting for a wife, this having left things a bit late in life.
Though it was many decades ago now, Earl Spencer famously dragged Diana's mother down to Harley Street to have her examined in aid of finding out why she wasn't producing male children.
Whole saga of Prince Charles and CBP is still yet another example.
Elizabeth I and Prince Phillip had been at then Prince of Wales to find a suitable bride, marry and produce heirs. PC choice was CPB who HM and others said simply wouldn't do. Eventually attention turned to Lady Diana Spencer. She was young, attractive, came from a suitable background, and apparently loved babies (she worked at a creche of all things). The couple married and in short order Diana produced an heir and spare.
Again am not saying Prince William would have put Kate Middleton away if she didn't produce children. But Ms. Middleton most surely was aware before her marriage what was expected of her, which included producing children.
Poor young woman had a terrible time with her first pregnancy (hyperemesis gravidarum), that alone may have turned many women off having any more children. Kate Middleton went on to have two more, and of course am not saying this was out of duty alone, but never the less.
it seems like a big part of her job is also to do charity work...around the world. Princess Diana did a great deal of that. It doesn't have to just be about having heirs.
