"I really hope the whole world is happy with for how they've treated Princess Kate," Kayla Adams said online. "Pretty much forcing her to prove she's alive, into confirming her diagnosis and coming up with disgusting conspiracy theories...she's not complained even once."
People weren't really wrong saying they thought it was something more than her just taking time to heal from a surgical procedure.
No they weren't wrong. I'm glad that Kate has made her announcement but totally understand that she and William needed to have a better handle as to what her treatment plan was before they said something to their children. Their kids come first. The public was genuinely concerned about Kate but the kids come first.

The sort generic speculation you mention wasn't what people were objecting to. That would the runaway conspiracy clamor and the sense of outrage on the part of many who seemed to struggle with not being spoon-fed the details of this woman's health issues.

That video was heavy. I'm sure it was hard for her to record it. I think people will leave them alone now. I hope so.
Shades of Diana, Princess of Wales.
They're going to hound poor The Princess of Wales into her grave.
Looks like BP and the Grey Men decided to lead from the front and settle matter once and for all. Likely as with Marie-Antoinette nothing will satisfy some people, but there you are.
Thoughts and prayers for Catherine Middleton and her husband/family.

Once they smell blood and weakness, they don't stop but rather double down. Prayers for all of the Royal family.
I think it's very unfortunate that they were essentially bullied into sharing something so personal with the world media. I'm sure given William's past experience with tabloid media intruding on his most personal life experiences, this won't make the journey any easier to handle.
NBC reported the timing was their decision. Initially they didn't tell the kids. Then timed a public announcement to coincide with the beginning of school holidays, to allow the news to circulate among school families while everyone was on break. Hopefully the school provided 'talking points' to the other parents.
Practically speaking Kate couldn't disappear from public activities for an indefinite period. To have their mother ill from chemo at home while the whole world wondered was an impossibility, and would itself have become a stressor in the classroom for George, Charlotte, and Louis.
William must be very stressed, both because of memories surrounding his mother's early death and worries his children could experience the same. Add to that concern for his father. Very possibly this is why he didn't - couldn't - attend the King Constantine funeral, pulling out at the last minute.
Instead the poor man had to listen to charges he was having an affair. As for William walking around with a "Kate double"? Patently ridiculous.
Finding out you or your family member has cancer is stressful. Been there, done that. But let's not, as the public looking on, overreact. People with metastatic/incurable cancer do not get preventative (adjuvant) chemotherapy! Princess Catherine has a curable condition. She is almost certainly not going to die of this diagnosis and the idea that the public will "hound her into her grave" is quite ridiculous. She will be fine. Positive thinking, people.
