I never was soda drinker but I sure do like the sweets, so my best bet is to stay away from them altogether. Once I get them out of my system, the next best tip is to eat only when hungry and never til full. And exercise. If I do those things I can get away with having some fat in my diet.
Use a bread plate instead of a dinner plate...fools the mind and eyes into thinking you're getting a full plate portion but you've actually halved the portion size. And no seconds!!
I once lost several pounds walking briskly a little over a mile to catch a train to work during winter so my best tip is do not just stop exercising outside because of winter-the body burns more calories by just trying to keep itself warm and that adds up to the actual exercise.
whenever you think you're hungry (but probably aren't) drink about 16oz of water. If you are still hungry after 20 minutes or so, then maybe have a small protein based snack.
i have to work out like a dog. i mean i have to really push because i don't have a thyroid. i'm taking medician to replace the hormons. my metabolism is so low. it really disencourages me.
Don't eat any food that you really like...I really like pasta...stop, can't have it..I don't like salad, yep, can have that...and feel good about your progress, even if it is only a pound or two...
Eat a BIG breakfast. Lots of proteins, BROWN starches (wheat bread, brown rice), veggies, MILK. Breakfast should be your largest meal of the day, composing around 900 calories.
The rest of the day, have about 3-4 "snacks", like a piece of fruit. Eat the food, don't drink it.
Drink alot of water. You should have at least 64 oz a day.
Quit the sodas! Almost all the posts on this thread have said it as well, and its one of the biggest ones! Do not fall for the diet soda routine, whether it has aspertame, splenda, etc. Diet sodas destroy your metabolism by making your body "think" you are getting sugary stuff, and when you don't, your body crashes, and makes you even more hungry.
Exercise! Exercise! Exercise! It doesn't have to be extremely hard. Just get off your butt and do it. No excuses. Walk, run, jog. Doesn't matter as long as you get about an hour of it each day. Be sure to include some weight training to, to increase your metabolic rate (increased metabolism=more efficent ways for your body to burn calories/carbs/fat).
Do not eat a big meal at night before bed. Eat as light as possible to merely "settle" your stomach.
Doing the above, I have lost almost 50 lbs in the past 7 months (207 lbs to 158 lbs). Have lost 8 pant sizes (38 to 30).
The main thing to remember folks, is that you have to use more than you take in. Thats as easy as it gets right there.
Many people who want to lose weight find it difficult to know which foods to choose for the best weight loss results. Losing weight by swapping and changing to different diets is not the best way, we need to find a way of reducing energy content from the normal foods we eat every day. We need to learn certain food rules to help form better eating habits.
