Mr. Obama TOLD US he had a plan. He inacted his plan and his plan failed.... As for that evil George Bush, Mr. Obama and the supermajority democrats had the option to just let the Bush tax cuts expire, or to even vote for some other tax plan but they didnt. they actuall VOTED FOR an extension of the Bush Tax Cuts and Obama SIGNED that.

Obama OWENS this economy and you cannot blame republicans one bit for it.
Nobody OWNS this economy.

The President can implement policies to help the economy, but that's it.

Congress is the branch of government solely responsible for the government's purse strings. The House of Representatives must originate expenditures.

The Federal Reserve can affect the economy via interest rates.

Obama's administration took over when the economy was in freefall. Putting the brakes on that freefall was what his plan was intended to do. Neither Obama, nor anyone else, Republican or Democrat, could possibly have been expected to fix the economy so that magically all the problems would go away.

Romney, despite the campaign promises he's making, isn't going to be able to magically fix the economy. There will still be a federal debt. There will still be arguments in Congress about raising taxes, and who should pay. There will still be partisan power plays in Congress, and power plays between the legislative branch and the executive branch. There will still be the cloud hanging over our economy of Baby Boomers going into retirement.

As J P Morgan demonstrated this past week, there will still be banks who will handle money irresponsibly and recklessly.

too bad there isn't anybody who can stop them.

i do agree that there is a cloud hanging over the economy of the baby boomers going into retirement. i found a web site

Pension Tsunami

that addresses just a few of the issues. (focusing primarily on california, but also other states as well).

it's all pretty sobering stuff.

Thank you for pointing the emboldened out. The democrats took control of congress in 2006 and did nothing to avert the coming crisis... that the Bush administration told them was coming... shall we review the YouTube clips of Barny Fwank and that crazy woman from Cali?

So 2 full years before the crisis democrats were in control of congress and now it’s been 5 years and still the economy is in dire straits.

THAT is what this election is about. It is not about Mr Obama smoking crack in high school or Mr. Romney's high jinks in high school.

How far back do you want to take this stupid stuff? Grand-parents, great grand-parents? You libs are just desperate to change the real problem - hope and change is killing America and it's time to dump this lame president.
Back to regressive Repubs? No way. Okay, here's what Fox won't tell you.
The economy was tanking before 2008, got it?
Since October 2009 4.5 million jobs have been created. About 1 million public sector employees have been terminated, mostly in the red states, for a net of about 3.5 million.
Bush was losing 700,000 jobs per month in 2008. Then John Boehner stated that his number one priority was to destroy Obama's presidency, and so Repubs have filibustered or altered every bill they can for just that purpose. The net job gain since 2009 has come in spite of Repubs, since they obviously could do nothing about it. Repubs want to tank the economy as much as possible before November. They are the party of super wealthy outsourcers and turncoats who have no allegiance to this country.
Romney has been a "bubble boy" from birth to the present day and those earlier storied acts only support the current notion that he is sociopathic.

As has been stated many times (and apparently ignored) in these threads is that Democrats are not all of one mind like the lockstep Repubs. Therefore a Democratic majority means little with these DINOs in the mix. The Democrats must purge these Repubs in Democrat clothing in order to get anything done.
Your Repub senators arre historically the champions of the filibuster.

The GOP was busy blocking more wasteful spending not recovery. They are trying to hold the line on this insanity.

Why didn't they block it before 2008?

This is always funny, when the left does the "word" police.

I was factually correct, obama had more democrats in the house and congress than the republicans. You can sit here and say all you want about a filibuster proof, in the end congress was owned by the dems for 2 years.

You have a fragmented sentence and misspelled "stupidest."

If you're going to correct you better be correct.

Dude, do you have a mental problem? I simple asked if that is what you meant to ask, no evil intent. Not like your compilation of my typos.

Yes, I make typos often (see that status above) mostly this Droid changes words, sometime it autocompletes, sometimes it autocorrects, sometimes not, sometimes its my fat finger on a tiny key, sometimes a key stroke that doesn't register. On this forum, the text doesn't always wraps and I have to pan back and forth to proof what I write.

Put = out (fat finger, o next to p)

It's verse its is completely up to Droid.

Stupidest? Droid autocompleted that, to type that one I had to override the autocorrect.

Now back on topic. After Ted Kennedy died the GOP filibustered everything they didn't agree with. I believe they have the record for blocking bills with filibusters over that 15 months.

If I'm not mistaken there are still administration nominations from 2009 that the GOP are blocking. The party of no in action.
