We rarely talk politics at Thanksgiving or any other holiday for that matter. My twenty something's adult children? I can't even tell you who they voted for. I "think" one voted for Johnson, one voted for Trump, the rest couldn't be bothered. As long as they are happy and contributing members of society, I don't care. I guess my family is different because the grandparents don't talk politics either.
Only liberals have this problem. Only liberals will sacrifice relationships with family members over politics. It's really sad and pathetic. Actually it's sickening.
My entire family absolutely loves Trump. They are all conservative, right-wing, Fox News loving people. I am the only one in my entire family, except for a few others, who is a progressive Democrat who absolutely loves Bernie and voted for Clinton.
With that said, I dread going to Thanksgiving next week.
My dad ALWAYS has a way of bringing up politics in a way that provokes me and it always leads into huge, loud, long arguments and causes a scene in front of everyone. I was thinking of not even going, especially because Hillary lost.
It's always myself versus a SEA of crazy conservatives, and they literally believe in every Fox News thing you could imagine. Everything.
Perhaps, and I say this seriously, you should be lucky you have a Thanksgiving family to go home to.
Some of us here have no parents anymore and live far from friends and family.
I would like to see peace on that day. The fighting will go on for years.... Let that be the one day where people are thankful they have families to go home to...

Just tell them you came to your senses and voted Trump. Take one for the team (as many liberals are doing around the country) and keep the peace.
Don't be sad, your still living in the best country in all the world.
Beautifully Spoken!
