So let me get this straight , in every other Election held in the US the winner is chosen by the majority vote except for the Presidency. So are you saying all of our other elections are basically "mob rule" then?
Incorrect.
Both political parties select their presidential candidates by elected and appointed delegates. It's not a popular vote election.
Democrats certainly seem to have no problem with that.
I haven't heard anyone talk about how the Electoral College change gets done. I assume it would require Constitutional amendment. I doubt it happens anytime soon. The south probably prevents it for at least another generation or two.
It won't happen in this generation, requiring 3/4 of states to ratify. my point is that the calling for it puts party over the good of the country

Yup. Because it would require an amendment, that's the strongest reason why it's likely the electoral college will remain until all of us are long in our graves.
There's always lots of talk about doing away with it that arises every 4 years with each presidential election, but it is one of those Articles that is so ingrained into our political process it won't ever be repealed.
Apparently giving votes by congressional district is constitutional or at least hasn't been ruled unconstitutional. More states might do that in coming years. For neutral reasons or partisan reasons. Intended results or not.
If Georgia flips Democratic sometime soon, those electoral votes at state would be pretty important to future Democratic victories. If Florida would flip more often that would be important too. I think only Obama accomplished that in recent past. Texas may flip Democratic in 8 -16 years.
Maybe Pennsylvania won't flip Republican again. Someday in distant future Ohio might go Democratic once or occasionally.
Ultimately the intent by the framers will prevail via the supreme court. Even traditional liberal judges know this. Understanding history gives each of us a clearer understanding of why we have an electoral college.
I also understand popular vote is essential for local representation. The constitution is a document of pure genius, because it was divinely inspired with the sprinkled with the human experience of failure.
Learning is experience, everything else is information.... heard that somewhere.
This isn't America it's the United States of America. Senators aren't allocated by population and the presidency isn't purely popular because each "state" in its own right retains a fairly extensive sovereignty to govern itself as it sees fit.
