Watching what a few drunken idiots singing outside a pub. The Article I posted above quotes Assistant Chief Constable Mark Roberts, one of Britain's most senior police who has a team in France and specialises in rioting and football violence.

There are also numerous accounts of Russian Ultras and to beat a 52 year old man with an iron bar is just disgusting.

The Russians seem to think they have acheived some sort of victory when in reality anyone in the UK convicted of football violence is not allowed to travel and has there passport taken off them during major international football tournaments so they weren't even in France, they were busy reguarly signing on at their local police station, and in future this will include anyone involved in the current violence in France. The Russians don't do this.

The people the Russians attacked were by and large decent people just wanting to watch the match.

The article simply backs up what is been said, and I trust the Western media a lot more than the Russian Media which is controlled by the likes of Putin.

As I've already said, I don't have a "one-sided view."

When I watch this video, I am getting concerned yet again, because yet again the situation is read in a very different manner by both Russians and the Britons.

The Britons here are fooling around - they basically tease the Russians ( and this is NOT the kind of actions in THEIR mind, that should provoke something like beating someone with a metal bar on the head.)
But in RUSSIAN mind - this kind of "teasing" is precisely a no-no thing, they feel personally challenged. And challenging Russian males is NOT a good idea overall, because they charge like a.. well, a furious bull or a bear.
That's why I thought it was a dangerous idea to let these things happen on international level, and particularly when it involves the Russian and British fans, because these two cultures are on the OPPOSITE ENDS of each other as I've already mentioned before. Of course it's bound to be a problem)))

“One went to punch me, I ducked and punched him back to defend myself. I had to. But then someone took a bat to my arm. It is killing me today. We told them to stop and they took out knives on us. The police were nowhere."...

Someone took a bat to his arm. It's amazing how the Western media can turn everything upside down. Continue to trust your media, it's the best in the world.
Why do you find this particular part so funny?
And where is the translation of this particular article?

Because nobody not to took a bat to his arm. He took the bat himself. He and his son took part in the riots and now the Western media make him a victim.

And there you go! Typical Russian response, don't touch Russian bear! What are you 12 years old or soething! You are a fool a gang of Russians beating people on their own and you are actually PROUD of them! Your response is the reason why Russia needs to be banned from this tournament, they should be banned from holding the world cup, until you can stop being a nation of racist bigots you should not be 'invited to the party'. Its about time Russia came out of the 18th century.

Your comment in bold is why Russia should not be allowed to host ANY event, its childish at best, we are not 12 year old boys in the playground! Its about time you 'grew up' a bit over there, nobody thinks your clever, nobody thinks your tough, everybody just wants your racist, homophobic people to f*ck off so that the rest of us can actually enjoy some football.

As I suspected..
Maxim, this is INCORRECT translation. Completely incorrect translation in Russian))))

"But then someone took a bat to my arm" means someone HIT him with a bat in his arm))

"It is killing me today" means it's hurting him today.

"I have got tickets for the semi-final but I wouldn’t come if it was here" means "у меня есть билеты на полу-финал, но я бы не поехал, если бы его проводили здесь"

So it's nothing what it's written there!

So your sarcasm is misplaced because of the faulty translation, which I suspected at the first place.

There is no "playful part" for the most in Russian culture, the way it's present in Anglo-cultures, and this is true on many levels.
That seems like a cultural failing to me, and is not an excuse for violently attacking people. That is never acceptable. If Russian men think it is acceptable to bash people's heads in with metal bars, then that is something Russia as a country needs to tackle. Surely you do not think that putting someone in a coma is an appropriate response to childish taunts.

A few Russian hooligans have been interviewed, and it's quite the eye-opener. They look at how the English hooligans behaved in the 1980s and emulated them to a certain extent. For them it's all about who's the strongest or most macho - and I get the impression that 'machoness' runs quite deep in Russia. They all say the same thing - Russian hooligans went there specifically to fight, and have trained beforehand to fight. They take pride in being violent. I don't think this is simply a case of some insecure Russian men getting butthurt because some people made fun of their country - the violence was ORGANISED before the match even began. These people travel all over SPECIFICALLY to fight and they have admitted as such. They even talk about English, Polish, German fans and how they see them as 'competitors'. It's completely insane.

No?
13 year olds then, judging by the "performance" exhibited above?
