The article simply backs up what is been said, and I trust the Western media a lot more than the Russian Media which is controlled by the likes of Putin.
I thunk, that Russians understand the REAL reason. Russians don't like the fans because they are morons and criminals. But the Russians against the one-sided view to the problem, that "evil Russians attacked the defenseless English". This is not true.

When I watch this video, I am getting concerned yet again, because yet again the situation is read in a very different manner by both Russians and the Britons.
The Britons here are fooling around - they basically tease the Russians ( and this is NOT the kind of actions in THEIR mind, that should provoke something like beating someone with a metal bar on the head.)
But in RUSSIAN mind - this kind of "teasing" is precisely a no-no thing, they feel personally challenged. And challenging Russian males is NOT a good idea overall, because they charge like a.. well, a furious bull or a bear.
That's why I thought it was a dangerous idea to let these things happen on international level, and particularly when it involves the Russian and British fans, because these two cultures are on the OPPOSITE ENDS of each other as I've already mentioned before. Of course it's bound to be a problem)))

So your sarcasm is misplaced because of the faulty translation, which I suspected at the first place.
The sad thing is, is that if Russian fans are going to be banned from international soccer games, Russians will never understand the REAL reason behind it. Because in Russian culture, if you are boastful ( as British fans are,) YOU ARE asking for trouble yourself. There is no "playful part" for the most in Russian culture, the way it's present in Anglo-cultures, and this is true on many levels.
That seems like a cultural failing to me, and is not an excuse for violently attacking people. That is never acceptable. If Russian men think it is acceptable to bash people's heads in with metal bars, then that is something Russia as a country needs to tackle. Surely you do not think that putting someone in a coma is an appropriate response to childish taunts.
A few Russian hooligans have been interviewed, and it's quite the eye-opener. They look at how the English hooligans behaved in the 1980s and emulated them to a certain extent. For them it's all about who's the strongest or most macho - and I get the impression that 'machoness' runs quite deep in Russia. They all say the same thing - Russian hooligans went there specifically to fight, and have trained beforehand to fight. They take pride in being violent. I don't think this is simply a case of some insecure Russian men getting butthurt because some people made fun of their country - the violence was ORGANISED before the match even began. These people travel all over SPECIFICALLY to fight and they have admitted as such. They even talk about English, Polish, German fans and how they see them as 'competitors'. It's completely insane.
