North and south are geographical NOT political terms - 57 degrees cuts, Europe in half north to south therefore north of that latitude is in 'northern Europe', south of that is in southern Europe' no matter what the town, city, country, county or seas are called or even if the line cuts through the middle of countries.
What you are saying is foolishness and ignorance. A mixture of the two is bad for the nervous system. If you divide Europe from the 57 degrees North, then that the city of Copenhagen (Denmark) which is in Scandinavia, is located in Southern Europe. Are you also saying that Scandinavia is in Southern Europe. Europe is not divided, the same way, the Equator cuts the earth in half. Europe is not that big, perhaps you're also ignorant of that.

To add, England is not only in the same latitude as northern Germany and northern Poland, but northern England lies north of Germany and is in the same latitude as Denmark which is in Scandinavia. So yes, England is by excellence a Northern European country.

The United Nations for all statistical studies considers Northern Europe to be UK & Ireland, Nordic States, and Baltic States. If you ask 50 people you will get at least 20 opinions. It is pointless if you believe BENELUX should be northern Europe. It is equally pointless if you think northern Germany should be included with Northern Europe.

It is exactly like saying you disagree with the US Census definitions for Divisions and Regions. So what! Everyone has an opinion. Opinions are worthless.

826 United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
372 Ireland

578 Norway
752 Sweden
208 Denmark
246 Finland
352 Iceland

233 Estonia
428 Latvia
440 Lithuania

248 Ã…land Islands
830 Channel Islands
234 Faeroe Islands
831 Guernsey
833 Isle of Man
832 Jersey

744 Svalbard and Jan Mayen Islands

Do you consider London cold?
I live in London and now it is cold. I have to walk around with a sweater on, apart from maybe about two hours during the height of the day. The cold weather is one reason why you see the British packing the Mediterranean beaches. If Britain has two or three weeks of guaranteed hot weather say in August, most families would not go to the Mediterranean. When the weather is hot the British Lake District beats the lot of it.

The UN does not like splitting states. Geographically Germany has a part of the country clearly in northern Europe. I gave a list based on Geography even splitting states, by drawing a line of latitude.

You are right, opinions are worthless.

What exactly has the size of Europe got to do with anything! Do you know what is meant by geographical terms? Answer me this - why is the Equator situated where it is? What is the name of the hemisphere to the North of the equator? What is the name of the hemisphere to the South of the equator? 57 degrees is halfway between the northernmost point of the European landmass and the southernmost point of the European landmass therefore everything to the north of 57 degrees is in the Northern half of Europe and everything to the south of 57 degrees is in the southern half of Europe........it makes NO difference what the countries are called, how many people live each side of the line or what colour they paint their toe nails!! I suggest you do two things 1. look up the meaning of North and South and then 2. look up the meaning of the word half.

No England is below 57 degrees (the halfway point of the European continent) therefore it is in the Southern half of Europe.

Incidently Kiel in Germany is at around 55 degrees, this means Germany is also in the Southern half of Europe, and it makes no difference how cold it is in January, how blond the 'average' hair is of a German resident or how many sausages they eat.
