LOL it was PIZZA NIGHT tonight Loved it! We had such a great night tonight. My kids had such a fun time with their cousins and us women chatted it up in the kitchen all night! It was such fun! The men had their fun in front of the television watching The Bills do thier thing (though I confess I don't know what that is...but I heard they won making the men happy)... it was a good night! Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!!!!!!
Pork chops, braised cabbage & parsleyed potatoes here. Good fall meal, and the extra pork chop will go into the spouse's lunch pail tomorrow.
Cyn, there are lots of wonderful things you can do with apples. Crazyworld's home-made applesauce is one excellent approach - try using apple cider instead of water if you have it - and it's particularly good served with roast pork or pork chops. Another family favorite is to make up patties of bulk sausage, fry them, and when you flip them, put an apple ring on each one, then cover the pan so the apple will steam. The apple flavor soaks down into the pork sausage and both come out heavenly. Baked apples is another family favorite: core a whole apple, put it in an oven-safe ramekin, fill the cavity with raisins, brown sugar and walnuts, and bake until the apple flesh is soft. Then there's apple pie, apple slab cake, apple crisp, apple coffee cake, apple waffles, and I don't know what all else.
You know, my mom always used to can up quarts and quarts of homemade applesauce every year, but I don't know why you couldn't freeze it instead. Make it up in the saucepan, let it cool, spoon into either freezer bags or freezer containers, and pop in the deep-freeze. There probably wouldn't be actual distinguishable apple chunks when you defrosted it, but then there aren't apple chunks in commercially prepared apple sauce, either. I'm betting it would still taste a far sight better than anything you'd find in the grocery store.

Reason: repeated myself...
I made a whole chicken yesterday with mixed vegies. I pulled the leftover chicken apart. sauted some onions, garlic and green bell pepper and made a big pot of rice with chicken bouillon, the pulled chicken and mixed vegies. it was really good.
I'm getting ready to have my snack now! microwaved popcorn mixed with peanut m&m's :-)
Pizza crust and pineapple are on the shopping list for tomorrow night's dinner. Most likely we will try to make it with bacon and pineapple instead of the usual ham and pineapple. Always looking for a new twist for an old favorite.

The Agenda - Week of October 19 - 25
This week, my humble abode will feature a few things, but I'll only have dinner at my place just three times before next weekend. I'm looking at some smoked sausage with some smokehouse beans and macaroni and cheese. Then I have two small chicken pot pies that I plan to put in the oven. Later on, I've got some chicken taquitos. Outside of cereal for breakfast, I plan to put on some sausage, scrambled eggs, and biscuits. And if anybody's curious as to what I mentioned last week, my roast beef in the crockpot was a huge success earlier today, along with my sides of cornbread, scalloped potatoes with bacon, and green beans.
Have yourselves a wonderful week with good eats. Bon appetit!
Tacos today were delish, I'm bringing some for lunch tomorrow in my new Mr. Bento.
Tomorrow's dinner is crock pot chicken breast cooked in lipton soup mix, apricot preserves, and a little salad dressing.
Will either make rice or potatoes to go with that.
