How funny, your hubby's comments were exactly what my older boys said. "Mom these taste like slimy dirt " Oh well, can't please everybody.

Look at me, 4 or 5 pages devoted to beets. Next time I go to the veggie farm I will have to pick another weird veggie so we can see what we come up with. LOL

Tonight for dinner, either beef stew or beef potpie. I have a smallish chuck roast thawing and I think I am going to cube it all up and make both to throw into the freezer. It is going to be chilly here for the next few days so stew sounds just about right.

Nomad, your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

For everyone who is still fighting off colds, get well soon.

I realize this is a food thread but it is also a place where we, as friends, gather and Nomadicus is a big part of our little communtiy here.....

Suspects and may have are two rays of hope at this point.

Let's hope the Dr's suspicion is wrong and he does have something more readily treatable.

For me beets do have an earthy flavor but I think that is what makes them taste so good. It seems to me a lot of the root veggies have that earthy flavor!!

And yes burdell, I agree. That is why I made the point to say suspects but they do not know for sure yet!! I am praying their suspicions are wrong.

Positive thoughts and prayers to you, your wife, and especially your son Nomad during this difficult time.

As for dinner, I think we might be going out??? I need to pack some more tonight and tomorrow morning too. We only have like 4 boxes total packed at the moment. Good thing we are only moving two miles this time and not two thousand. I don't feel like we have to be so neat and organized and careful with stuff -- must be why we are slacking in the packing

I'll be honest HG...if I were only moving 2 miles I'd probably just toss a lot of the stuff in my car and make trips back and forth---at least for the small stuff. I probably wouldn't even bother packing some of it! Of course for the big stuff you need a truck.
