So I'm making pot roast in the slow cooker however it's not the usual chunk of meat you buy. I had to get two slabs of meat. Anyone else did this and have any issues??

I have done this, no problems. Just don't leave it in too long.

I have carrots, celery and potatoes to use up so tomorrow will be a top round roast with garlic and pepper crust and horseradish cream sauce.

Sometimes I feel like it’s a chore to cook and unless I’m inspired to try something totally different, it’s like the same old routine as to what to cook.

We do miss not getting together with our one friendly couple that we meet once a month at a different restaurant to enjoy a good meal. Unfortunately here in SW Virginia we don’t have anything near the variety of ethnic restaurants near by where we lived in NY and NJ. That being the case, it’s about the only thing we miss!

Pizza night This time we did one of those store bought California Kitchen Phili cheesesteak thin. DH had a beer and I had a ROOT beer. I was looking for a couple bottles of A&W but when I couldn't find them, I opted for Stewart's root beer.

Dessert: slice of carrot cake for Mr C and I have a Black Forest cherry cupcake and we'll maybe split a small cup of coffee. Must have used up the decaf sometime ago and I forgot. That has to be added to my grocery list. Only do decaf after 3pm., but since I'm splitting it - shouldn't be too bad. Crossing my fingers, I'll still be able to fall asleep before midnight. DH can drink a pot of that, put his head on the pillow and fall fast asleep. I'm happy for him, really

Vegetarian Mexican spaghetti with a sauce made of ground toasted almonds, roasted poblanos, garlic, oregano, spinach and crema. It's been a really long time since we had this and I told Dogboa we need to make it more often.

Salmon Skin Mousse (skins left over from wild-caught salmon for 6, 8 jumbo boiled eggs, leek tops, fennel tops, a good bit of fresh ginger - all briefly blanched - peppery olive oil, & salt - pureed). Served in ramekins, with pecan halves.

Lemon-vanilla Whipped Cream (sweetened with Stevia), with thin-sliced Mozzarella
