Buddy, I highly suggest you get off your high horse, and especially stop demonizing people whom you do not know.

Your post is dangerously close to an attack. Knock it off.

Irritation from particulates in the air is VASTLY different from any risk of cancer from brief and ventilated exposure. You, Mr. Alcoholic-Who-Drives-145mph-in-a-55mph-Zone, need to really take stock of your own demons and stop attempting to demonize the rest of society for YOUR FAILINGS.

I do not smoke around people who are sensitive to smoke of any kind, be it from a fireplace or a BBQ--even if they are guests in my own home.

What I want to know is why so many children of smokers do NOT have asthma (in fact, the numbers of asthma sufferers have INCREASED while the numbers of smokers has DECREASED).

Personally, I don't give a flying **** why your asthma is adversely affected. My allergies are affected by perfumes, but I'll be d***ed if I would go so far as to assault someone for wearing cologne or perfume...I don't want to smell like them, yet I usually wind up doing so.

Your post history describes someone addicted to being a victim.

I refuse to enable that behavior.

The day I find a medical chart that confirms a case of even SUSPECTED death due to secondhand smoke, I'll post my findings. So far, 10 years, hundreds of thousands of charts across the country, and not one.

A little reading combined with intelligent thought goes a long way.

I never said breathing in your toxic second hand smoke is going to make me drop dead. It can make me get Lung Caner though, and that is a fact. Go visit the American Lung Association web site and thousands of others.

But I don't need to be told by someone to believe it. Think about it. Toxic smoke with 4,000 chemicals being inhaled into my pink lungs. Can this be good for me?

I actually have a better tolerance to accepting breathing in pollution from smog than second hand smoke. Atleast the snog is from a useful purpose. Vehicles, factories, boats and gas engines helping man kind be productive. What does your cancer stick do to help me or you?

Here:Nicotine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia."The LD50 of nicotine is 50 mg/kg for rats and 3 mg/kg for mice. 40–60 mg (0.5-1.0 mg/kg) can be a lethal dosage for adult humans.[37][38] Nicotine therefore has a high toxicity in comparison to many other alkaloids such as cocaine, which has an LD50 of 95.1 mg/kg when administered to mice. It is impossible however to overdose on nicotine through smoking alone "

Read it, and be somewhat educated.
Not sure what you are referring to but I might of exaggerated on the horse bit. Replace "horse" with "human" and we are good with what I said above!

I did see I was off on the horse my bad:

Quote:
Prussic acid is the deadliest poison known to science; nicotine approaches it in poisonousness, and often "acts" as rapidly. Eleven milligrams (about one-sixth of a drop) of nicotine will kill a cat or a rabbit. From one-half to two drops placed on the tongue of a dog kills almost instantly; a drop placed on the eye of a sparrow or a white rabbit kills at once. Eight drops will kill a good stout horse in four minutes. The amount required to kill a man ranges from sixty to one hundred and twenty milligrams, (one to two drops), depending on the age and condition of the individual.

Not as bad or as quickly as breathing in your second and third hand smoke!

This is a subject that beats a dead horse.

I think cigarettes WILL eventually be banned ~ AFTER government finds way to replace the exhorbitant TAX they make off tobacco products! (As for marijuana arguments, it is still "smoke". I don't give a damn what its medicinal values are ~ it is smoke. Can't allow it.)

I do NOT like that it was banned from ALL bars and restaurants here in Oregon. It should have been left up to the establishments to choose from being completely non-smoking or ALL smoking. Too simple of a truce solution to even be considered.

And, no, I do not smoke. Nor am I particularly sensitive to it. But I do wear perfume, and there are interest groups out there who want to "ban" public use of that, too. So what's next? Is one of you going to target the Pepsi drinks I like so well? Ban beer? (I'd sure like to see that one fly in Oregon.) Establish laws that we can't wear lime green or hot pink because it offends or "strains" someone's eyes?

I don't know why anyone wants to smoke anymore. Between the ridiculous cost for a pack of cigarettes and the reality of not being able to smoke on one's own front porch makes the habit an expensive crime. Although I can't help wondering how many people in office, or in lobbyist groups, have alcohol or drug problems (which affects those around them in other ways).

Why do you keep going to places that make you sick? Do you have a gambling addiction in addition to alcoholism?

Sure, blindly listen to info from folks with an agenda. If it gave folks lung cancer folks would die from it.
pretty selfish of you to worry about imaginary dangers from second hand smoke but scoff at pollutants that are having REAL global impact, but thats common in anti anything crowds. Its a me, me, me world.
