Thirdhand smoke another danger - MayoClinic.com (http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/thirdhand-smoke/MY00591 - broken link)

I personally get offended having drunks fall on me at restaurants so I think drinking should be banned. Along with state lotteries that finance sports stadia.

LOL-being a female who works the midnight shift I deal with this more than I care to. I have absolutely no tolerance for drunk idiots.

How do you know that they're on oxygen because they "smoked for a couple decades"? Did you interview them all, or are you just making an assumption?

I am sure breathing in smoke from a BBQ is bad, real bad. But it can't be as bad as hanging out with a smoker all day long and breathing in their smoke. Atleast at a BBQ it is very short lived, and it is outdoors so I can avoid it. Being stuck in a car with a selfish smoker on a road trip breathing in 2nd and 3rd hand smoke? Not a good thing.

Don't think it couldn't happen.

North Portland had a restaurant that served wonderful sandwiches and he smoked his own meats through use of mesquite wood that he had shipped from Texas.

A vegan that lived down a block or two from the restaurant actually filed complaints with the City of Portland and he got his way. So the restaurant owner couldn't smoke his meats anymore and it killed his business. This happened in a city already notorious for being very small-business unfriendly. Do I think it was wrong? You bet your a$$ I do! What the city did was allow this kook to dictate what kind of cuisine that his surrounding neighborhood restaurants can serve.

Well since you are being obtuse I've seen that both in my personal life as well as oh....pretty much all the written literature as to the primary causes of lung problems etc.

The majority of people I know on this were heavy smokers that developed Emphysema (and other ailments). This has also been routinely communicated to my by friends and family that work in medical fields.

Emphysema

While there CAN be other causes like working around chemicals, genetic disorders etc. the #1 source of lung problems is smoking.

Also, I see the people sitting at the slot machines taking puffs when not hooked to their oxygen mask. Don't blame me...it's just a widely accepted fact that long-term heavy smokers are going to have lung probems as they age.

Hahaha you guys are funny.

Well as a child I had no choice but to endure my fathers chain smoking in the car.

As an adult I do not and I have told people to please not smoke when I ride in their car. Most oblige and are ok with it. Some try to protest. A gal who I dated that smoked (big mistake on my part) did protest and we got into a fight about it. She finally backed down and did not smoke when I rode with her. But she was not happy about it (withdrawals in her own car! Once we were stuck in traffic for 1.5 hours and she got really irritated as she needed to smoke! It was both funny and sad watching her have a fit.)

If you want to damage your lungs with black carcingentic soot, that is fine, just don't expose me to it. In your car or not.
