I'm glad that you live in a safe neighborhood and can predict exactly what neighborhoods to carry and what neighborhoods to not carry and that all car jackings will happen in that neighbor and never ever, in areas you frequent, and that robbery's of jewelry stores, grocery stores, convienience stores also never happen in areas that you are in.

I feel, I have an obligation to protect my family and myself. I can not predict where or when that is going to be tasked, so I carry all the time. When I get dressed, my weapon slips on the same as my shoes slip on. I wouldn't think of even walking around my house without my weapon, yet alone anywhere else. At night, my loaded weapon lays on the nightstand in easy reach

I live out in the country and am probably a lot safer than most people. But that doesn't stop me from being prepared. If I carry all the time, I am used to it and never forget it and end up saying, "Well, I'll make this one trip to town, nothing will happen."
That trip to town might be your last. That firearm or (weapons) only do you any good if they are on you. That's like the guy who always takes it off to go into a restaurant because he wants to take off his coat! Leave the coat on. Are you carrying that thing for protection or not? The same as the mall. I don't give a hoot what their signs say. They have to see it and catch me first. Most renta-cops aren't that smart.

If I see a weapon of ANY kind...forget the damn spray.

Now for the folks that think someone is just going to let you leave or run away on foot from them? BAAAAAAAH They will pursue after you and run you down UNLESS you gave them a reason not to. A gun, knife or pepper spray makes them think twice about it.

Sorry - again, you come at me, you will NOT be facing a fist, knife or pepper spray. Period. Too dangerous to give an attacker the first choice of weapon.

As a general rule, it will be out in plain sight from the get go. They want to gain control as quick and as effort less as possible. That is on the street anyway. In your house...hey, the perp is IN your house! He's going to see a firearm for SURE for that, no questions asked.

ummm...weren't you the one talking about using PS or CS initially, even for someone in the house?

The truly dangerous man, you never see coming. I am very proud and happy to maintain my karate skills, they help "break the ice" with women, if nothing else! :-) I can hit you, at arm's length, before you can react and fire a gun that you have pointed at me. I can jump kick you, from 6-7 ft, faster than you can react, and ccw from a belt rig, too. The gun is there, but it's rarely needed. Anyone who does not back down from the sight of a ready gun must be treated like a rabid dog. A civilian has no need to "scale" his reaction to a threat, as a cop is expected to do.

No, I never said that. It was always for the roadrage guy or a fist fight. I'm still straight. Someone inside of your house is not the same thing as someone in your face unarmed at the stop light.

In my face at a stop light.....meh. Ignore, drive away - just like you do with the street bums. What's the big deal? I ain't so much cave man that I'm gonna even react to some idiot screaming at me in the street.
