Thank you for all the replies and suggestions. We will be doing what we can to secure our home and take off for a shelter once they announce them open in North Port. We are packed and ready.
Hoping it's soon.. I'm sure they'll open them up in North Port but hope isn't last minute!
We were only able to get 3 boards of plywood. Wish we could of done all.
Impact resistant or original?
My sister in law in Victoria was at home for Harvey's visit and she wasn't boarded up
And don't think that house has impact Windows...double paned though, I think...house is under 5 yrs old
70 mi from landfall but was straight in path of the eye...
Debris is big danger of course but storm's pressure vs house internal pressure another big factor...
Have read to close all interior doors to help pressurize your interior...
one positive for older, "boxy" houses instead of the open look people like...
It must be pure chaos in South Florida right now. I cannot imagine. I feel so bad for pets and people dealing with this. I hope everyone keeps their composure.
I heard its taking like 10 hrs to go what would normally be a 3-4 hr drive and people are running out of gas ... Rest stops are jammed. Stations running out of gas and water...
Why didn't they turn the southbound lanes into able to go north??????? Gees.

Original 1995. There are two small ones not boarded and 2 tiny ones in bathrooms not boarded. Also the sliding door in back isn't boarded, not sure if it's made any different. Goes out to lanai.. which at this point not sure if will still be there through this. Yes we will be closing all doors inside before we leave for shelter.
Gov. Scott answered this. Fuel tankers have to be able to to travel back and forth.
Also emergency vehicles and other such vehicles that are heading towards the storm. My fire station is sending an ambulance, boats, kayaks, and even a jet ski. A lot of stations around the country are sending equipment.
