Las Vegans, ask yourself: Can we afford all the true costs of hiring more police officers? And wouldn't you rather pay an extra tax for more infrastructure needs/desires? Or some other projects?
You truly are one of the very few that "gets it." As usual, I totally agree with your post. More police means a police state.

I'm one of these people who are over-eager to see our government(s) come down to Planet Earth, and if hiring more police officers, along with the hidden costs, will accelerate the process of city/county/state bankruptcies, then let's go for it!!!

No matter what issue you're looking at, there will always be pluses and minuses!

Sometimes just their presence alone is enough to deter crime. Especially on the Fremont area.

As far as your situation, been there done that. I went to get my haircut and came out to find my car that I loved keyed on both sides back in Phoenix, so I get it. I do feel for you, but unfortunately this is the way it is. Do you have collision insurance? That would cover your damage, otherwise you will have to pay out of pocket.

Just liability. My car has seen better days, 2001 with over 197,000 miles.

And.......meanwhile.......white-collar crime flourishes!

Convicted of a white-collar crime, and you can look forward to that horrible, unspeakable punishment: a slap on the wrist!!!
