So it's safe to say that there are ghetto/poverty-strickened neighborhoods in ALL parts of the world. It's a never ending cycle for some (challenging to break, but not impossible).

Such an imbalance; when you have some who have so much and others who don't have the bare necessities................

Those places are scary and filthy...

In those pictures you can see the real Miami, a dump majority and the super rich at the backgroind in their high rise condos. Miami is extremely segregated, with the blacks living in the worst, the hispanic in the worst-better, and the white in the best neigborhoods. Blacks barely have opportunities in Miami, since being Spanish literate is a MUST for most and best positions in Dade county. Probably that's why they choose welfare and crime over a job...

I disagree Marina............Miami is like any other major city. We have good and bad places to live...Some people have no desire to have a job, to provide for their children, to have a future......instead they choose to live off welfare, have more babies to get more money and want NO part of contributing to society........Well, this is where you live......I don't buy this whole race thing.......I know plenty of poor whites and plenty of sucessful blacks.......PEOPLE have a choice to make their life better or not.......some choose not to and they end up living in the ghetto.....

I know a lot of people prefer giving birth like rabbits to receive a bigger check, but don't deny blacks don't have much chances of getting job opportunities in Miami. Where I see most blacks working in Miami are at Mickey D's and fast food places flipping burgers or sweeping floors, sad but true. At restaurants, you don't see them as waiters, most are bussers, cooks, pass boys, again, sad but true At stores, same thing, they're on the back. Major reason for this to happen is the language, spanish is a MUST in Miami. I've never not being asked if I speak spanish or if I'm bilingual when applying for a job. Blacks can succeeed, but unfortunately in Miami most businesses are local and run by Hispanics (mainly Cuban) who only hire Hispanics, I mean Cubans

this is true to an extent, but you forgot most blacks work for the county, some of the best paying jobs with good employee benefits

also working for a company that is run by a Hispanic shouldn't be an issue in the black community, cause there should be more black owned business, but sadly most black teens are told to be welfare queens and rappers/ sport stars, which in life gets them no where, but not all black are like that, i know some who live in little Havana, due to the fact its safer and their parents want a better future for them, my black friend doesn't even listen to rap/hip hop, only rock.

***

Your particular theory does not explain the presence of black ghettoes across the entire continental US.

In Miami, the best neighborhoods are mostly Hispanic. I'm talking here about Coral Gables and Key Byscaine, many occupants are from your own country.

I don't know why are you so baffled by contrasts, in your country Slums occupy the best Real Estate.

Marina ... I am sure you are a good person , yet your posts are overwhelmingly negative and depressing and frequently incorrect such as the one above ... what happened to you that you despise Miami and South Florida so much .... just curious ?
