The lottery for the 80% bracket was still in force, since very few apartments were allotted to that income range and the list moved very slowly.

So my theory is that Stuy Town is still calling people from that earlier lottery, but just the 80% bracket.

Sunnyand50, were you in the 80% bracket?
No.

Well, my theory on that was wrong. Thanks for that info, Sunny!

You're welcome. Now that I'm here, it's much easier to accept the mystery of the wait list.

For those still in limbo, they always contacted me when they needed confirmation or information.

Sunny, are you happy with your apartment, the location, and experience living in Stuy Town?

Yes, I love it!

It's possible that ST placed me in the 80% category. Because I'm definitely not in the 165%. They don't seem to use as many brackets as HousingConnect does.

You're theory could have merit!

Just got an email from StuyTown saying they have no available one-bedrooms "but as soon as we do you will be notified through email to update or submit documents"... I'm confused because they just asked me to submit updated documents last month--I was hoping the fact that they were asking for updated documents meant they'd have an apartment for me, but I guess not

(My log number is in the low 400s.)

EDIT: I just called the number in the email footer and miraculously someone answered the call! She couldn't tell me much--could/would not say what log number they are up to or how many one-bedrooms there are, just that they are trying to do "as many as possible" and that they've had difficulties with the renovations due to covid. I did ask when more one-bedrooms might be available (I said: "one month, six months, a year?") and she estimated 2 months, for what it's worth. I'll update when/if I hear anything, hopefully in not more than two months...

Well, that's much better news! It would be so easy for Stuy Town to just say, there are no one-bedrooms available at this time, but we expect more to be opening up in a couple of months.

That's vague enough, but it lets people know the door isn't closed.

Thanks for posting this information you found out by being proactive. It will probably help others who are also having a bad day after getting the same email!

Also, there's a vacant two-bedroom on my floor that I imagine will be part of the lottery. So far, no work has begun on it, but I will keep an eye on it.
