As I said, you need to ask.

Would your voucher cover a two-bedroom, even considering you might get one that is the most expensive? (You will not be able to choose. What you get, you get.) The top price of a two-bedroom is $2,600.

Does your brother want to live in Stuy Town with you? Will you still qualify if his income is added to yours? Would Stuy Town allow you to change the household composition? It's worth asking, if you think the two-bedroom would better meet your needs in the long run.
Thank you for the reply. I did give them a call and guy on the phone stated that since I initially applied solo, I would have to submit solo as well. Only change would be if I had a spouse or was a legal guardian.

He then told me to reply back and ask to be placed on the waitlist for the 1 bedroom. They are still renovating them and they release the apartments in batches of 20-30 at a time. Hopefully in the next couple of months, I'd hear back again.

So, up until now, I don't recall hearing the word waitlist. I wonder if this is a change in policy?

It's odd to me that they are asking you for documents only to be putting you on a waitlist.

But maybe they are just expressing themselves in a different way. The messaging from Stuy Town has definitely been on the confusing side from the beginning.

The one-bedrooms are a very nice size, perfect for a single person or a couple, with good closets. Best of luck!

I was asked if I wanted to be on the waitlist in Dec 2020 (for the 2018 lottery). I said yes and the next contact was May 2021.

I felt good about getting contact today and, my feelings paid off as I was able to reach the office today. The specialist I spoke to was very helpful and, said he would reach out to my specialist who is out of the office but, he would handle if she didn't get back to me. He did see that I replied that I am interested in the 2 bedroom and, they are available so, it shouldn't be too long. There may be a need to send up updated docs, but not too many and, will not be a problem for me as, I am prepared to do it as, it's been almost 3 months since my initial submission. He did reiterate the dearth of 1 bedroom apartments.

Great info for those waiting, thanks for posting! It's amazing to me that two-bedrooms are available and not one-bedrooms, but of course that's great news to those who need the larger apartment.

I was contacted as well on the 11th and asked to submit documents. I did everything today and got the response that I would be on a hold list until they have more 1 bedrooms in inventory. Log # was 21XX

Hi All! You’ve been so informative. Thanks for the insight, advice, and opinions. Really takes a village lol. I decided to ultimately decline so those waiting for a 1 bedroom know now there will be at least one more available for the taking.

Well, I'm off and running! I got an email today from the new Housing Specialist assigned and, I have 7 days to turn in the updated list of docs. Just in time too, b/c my son is going back upstate to college Sunday and, he needs to have a notarized statement of no income and, Spring Semester registration. That gets handled tomorrow and, gonna use the 3 day weekend to compile the other docs (paystubs, bank statements, etc.) I'll get that up to him next week and, hope to have everything finalized by Spring Break, so he'll have a nice new home to come back to!

Aw, thanks for keeping us updated. I'm curious (if you don't mind and are still here), what floor was the apartment on? Thanks
